Hi Louise

Just found this pattern, it sounds really good. HAve been trying to adapt a Jack Russell crochet pattern to a whippet size, but this sounds much easier! Any idea what size 6 needles are in uk sizes?

Many thanks!

Jan

Knitting worsted or olon worsted. Approx 1 1/2 skeins of 4oz yarn, size 6 needles (usa)
Cast on 76 stitches K1 P1 ribbing for 2 inches

Then stockinette stitch to 18 inches including the ribbing

Decrease 1 stitch each side each knit row, to 56 stitches, then work in ribbing K1 P1 for 5 inches which makes collar

Underpiece - Cast on 30 stitches and work in ribbing K1 P1 for 4 inches increase evenly to 36 stitches and still ribbing continue until 9 inches.

Decrease 1 stitch beginning and end of each row to 1 stitch. Cast off

Sew together leaving a hole on either side for whippets front legs to go through

Collar folds back like a turle neck sweater.

A us size 6 is a uk 8 old type or new needles 4 mm and wosted weight yarn is our double knitting if you size down the needles and use 4ply it knits as a puppy jumper and if you up them and use chunky it does a big whippet small greyhound without any changing the pattren. iv used it alot to knit jumpers for the rescue when im on holiday i ususly come back with a bag full for them its realy easy to do so very relaxing

Many thanks for this. I have now finished a jumper for my whippet Luke and have started one for my friend's old greyhound Bran, who gets cold in the night. You are right it is so relaxing to do and such an easy pattern. I found though that to get it on him I had to leave part of the side seam open, towards the back and put buttons or velcro on to fasten it. Otherwise I had to nearly dislocate his front legs to get it on. Not sure if I've put it together correctly.

Regards

Jan
