Probably good for canines but it would be a bit of a moral dilemma for me so I don't.
We feed our chickens on grain, sunflower seeds and mealworms. They also enjoy any of my garden plants they can get their greedy beaks. We don't eat the chickens but we do eat their eggs..
Krill are the foundation of much of the ocean's food-web; dogs have plenty of alternate sources of protein, while whales, many species of fish, whale-sharks, etc, do not. For them, the loss of krill = starvation.
Tiny Krill: GIants in the Ocean Marine Life Food Chain
Japanese fishermen planned to expand their Antarctic fleet & take krill by the tonne, not to feed humans, but to feed to CHICKENS for later slaughter; this is nutz. Just b/c krill is "cheap" protein is no excuse for feeding millions of land-birds from the very base of the marine food-web!
Chickens can do very nicely on an omnivore diet, with grain & grass & invertebrates in a pasture-rearing system; total confinement & feeding them dried krill from a hopper is extremely stressful, & highly unnatural, to boot.
