hi all! long time no post;just viewed crufts on animal planet and i was wondering how popular the lancashire heeler is in the UK,i know this is mainly sight hound site and myself i would prefer whippets to a herder but my sister likes the looks and already owns a cardigan cross,i had no idea were to look for them-----------by the way i'm in the US colorado be on the money found one kennel in the washington state they want 1800$ us for a pup,yikes--------thanks in advance for any info tom

crikey how much!? (w00t) it would be cheaper to import one from here. theyre quite cheap as theyre a native breed and therefore like most things british arent valued much by the natives.they much prefer weird exotic breeds that spend all their time at the vets!

When I was a child in West Lancashire (where they originated) they were a very common sight. There were a lot on farms and kept as pets and pups were about £10 each! (this was the '70s though!)

Lancashire Heelers are on the UK Kennel Club's list of Vulnerable Native British Breeds as there are fewer than (not sure of this figure) 300? registered each year. However, there are still a few unregistered strains around the North West of England.

They are a brilliant little dog! The Lancashire Heeler Club has its own website and I am sure someone there could tell you all you need to know.

Aw! I just had to look these up because I didn't know what they were when you posted. What a ncie looking little dog. There's a UK website here:http://www.lancashireheelers.org/ if that's any help

theyre a cracking little dog but not glamorous and often overlooked.theres still quite a few round the west lancs area.i think in the '70's when they were so cheap they werent recognised as a kc breed.if i remember rightly theyve only been granted kc status in the last few decades?
