Thanks so much everyone - and for the PM's too - much appreciated.
She is coming along daily.  However now that she is feeling a little better she thinks she is superwoman and can do stairs on her own and wants to run back inside after she's done her toilet.  Of course she can't do these things yet and looks at me with disdain when I won't let her.

Ah! the princess in her is coming back :D

I'm going looking for some Devil's Claw in the health shop tomorrow.

That is fantastic news  So thrilled she is on the road to recovery :sweating: it is so stressful when the 4 leggeds are unwell, I am thrilled the outcome has been so positive - big hugs from us

A little update -

It's been four weeks now and though she is feeling well she still has a long way to go.

We finally got the Devil's Claw in at the health shop and she started on that on Saturday.

There is no obvious pain - she does not flinch or cry out at any time.

She is still unsteady on her feet when she first gets up from sleeping or laying down for any length of time.

When she squats to wee there is an obvious crescent shape to her spine, like a bracket ) and all her weight is on her right back leg.

We are walking laps of the front yard daily on lead - she starts all excited and rearing to go - getting the skips up like she wants to go galloping but the spring is out of her step by the second lap.

Her front is still taking her in the straight line she intends to follow whilst her back end careers away to the left.

We could be at this rehabilitation for months, and I am getting very little guidance as to how much and at what intervals to increase her exercise, I am very much a novice with this kind of injury and rehab.

But we will keep plugging away.

Great to hear that Layla continues to improve.

If she were mine I would take her to a chiropracter, do you have one near to you??

There is an 'untrained' manipulator (greyhound man) that a lot of people swear by but my vet said "Don't you dare" when I said someone had suggested I take her to this fellow. He said she is NOT to be manipulated. Just slow and steady increasing of controlled exercise.

Mmm ......... well I certainly wouldn't use an untrained manipulator on any of my dogs!! But, what must be remembered is that most Vets and Doctors (and physiotherapists to a certain extent), unless they are specialists, are

(a) Jack of All Trades and

(b) have this great fear of the unknown, which includes chiropractors

and homeopathy!!!

so will say No on principle. I think it is known as 'covering your arse'!!

Chiropractors do not tend to 'manipulate' like osteopaths do, it is a far more gentle process and, certainly with back injuries, dogs and people often benefit from having the spine realigned which will not happen on its own. Even my fit and healthy dogs, like Rupert who can over-exert himself hunting out on exercise, I will take to see my Chiropractor every now and again because you will be amazed at how easy it is for them to get a kink here or there.

Ive got Mollee booked in to an Chiropractor who has not only treated me in the past  , but also treated Badger on a regular basis , as he had a habit of running into me or dogs to stop (w00t) , His neck was his ` achilles heal ` but Imogen put it right every time  ,

As one or 2 people have also spotted that Mollee does a little skip now and then I thought a trip to Imogen would help.

Id give it some though Lana , but I know you will do what is best .
