where to begin.. :( well, when we arranged the mating it was agreed that we'd see how many, what sex etc amber had before either paying the fee or giving a pup as payment, and that the co-owners would come over to view the pups and decide. since then one of the owners has been impossible to contact to arrange the matter. having spoken to the other it transpires that this man has the royal hump about NOT having been contacted [despite myself having called every week to arrange to pay him, giving his wife updates on the litter and asking for him to return my calls] anyway, the other co-owner is quite happy whenever we pay and however we pay and willing to sign the green slip, but without both signatures we can't register the litter, and it would appear that hell will freeze over before we get both in his current frame of mind

what options do we have? can we go to court to obtain dna to prove paternity? i'm at a total loss as to where we stand and what solutions are available.

i'm absolutely furious. I have a beautiful litter of peds here that can't be sold as peds, and i'll be damned if i'll let them go as non peds, i'd rather keep them all.

anyhow, the one is going to try to talk to the other over the weekend, and if he can't he's going to go to his house on monday to try to get him to sign, even if he won't come here, then come here himself to pick up the bloody money. otherwise I guess i'm screwed, unless you guys can help?

I have no advice other than to keep your phone records. If he's claiming you've not called, and you have a record of calls to his number that should help negate his complaint.

Let's just hope the other co-owner is able to help you get it sorted.

i feel for you , it must be very difficult , one of thr reasons ive said to myself that no matter what i would not offer a pup for a stud , pay up front then they can buy one from the litter if they want .

ive heard too many stories regarding problems like this in other breeds too .

as already said , keep details of when you phoned him etc etc and hope it all works out for you  :luck:

I wouldn't mind so much, but we bred on exactly the same terms last time, when they visited the litter several times before deciding what they wanted, then they gave the slip and took their pup.

to be honest it's looking like this guy is pissed because there was only the one bitch, and I said I wanted to keep her, so by doing this he's either going to force us to hand her over or kill our fledgling breeding program outright [his wife called me and said it's NOT the money that's upset him: 'f*** the 250!'] so it's the only conclusion I can reach

I think the only thing you can do is to go to see him, he may not be able to be totally nasty to you to your face. Maybe tell him that next time he can have a pick bitch (not that i wouls ever mate anything to one of his dogs again). Hopefully, he'll just take the money.

It is sad, i always thoughht that breeding a litter is a cooperative effort between the owner of the bitch and the sire. And i always (with one very upseting exemption) dealt with people who were pleasure to deal with.

But after the one bad experience, I am very careful and try to put down in writing all details, for every involved party's protection. That way there can be no missunderstanding.

Also, i assume this man did not even see the pups, is this bitch puppy really so good to fight over? It is disapointing if you do not get what you want in a litter, but there is no point keeping puppy just because this is the only bitch there. So step back and have a good look at her. Unless this bitch looks absolutely outstanding, I would just let him have her, learn from the experience. If you were happy with the litter as whole and will remamain on good terms with this man, get him to sign an agreement that you can repeat the mating for stud a fee. So you have a litter totally under your control. Never know the next one maybe even better and several girls to choose from.

The alternative is you will end up with unregistered litter or court case, or both. :luck: :luck: :luck:

thanks mally :huggles:

he won't come to view the pups at all :(

if i'm totally honest, looks wise my money is on the darker two boys, they are stunning, though the bitch and other boy are still very good examples. [which is why we went back to this stud, after seeing the last litters overall quality]

part of his problem is that when he picked last time, he changed his initial choice, and ended up with the third best bitch, overall fifth out of the litter, whereas his first reaction [maddy] ended up superior [and prior to this upset he freely admitted that to me, regretting maddy not being his] thing is that belle is now pregnant [mated on 3rd nov, so only 16mths at time, i'm not happy about it, but that's another story!] so he'll have his hands full already without adding a new pup.

the reason we want this girl so much is a] would rather a bitch as a boy would cause grief with dante b] her colouring. the only pied out of a total of 11 pups, and we're unlikely to breed amber again, so we won't have the chance of another like her and c] her personality. she's bossy, nosy, feisty, outgoing, but incredibly sweet, gentle and placid and adores the kids.

he hasn't seen her, doesn't know her character, but does know her colour and that there's only the one bitch.

this time tomorrow I shall hopefully know what's going on. if he refuses to take any payment and denies registration, it's highly likely i'll go nuclear.

so if you think you're seeing, miraculously, the northern lights, think again. chances are it'll be a discreet corner of surrey ceasing to exist ;)

OMG Lalena!!

I would be furious too.  Just goes to show you,you can trust no-one!!

I always pay up font now,as there are more people who fall out over matings and litters than anything else!

Let me know the outcome of this :huggles: ,it sounds to me like it is a severe case of "the green eyed monster" on his behalf as he wants your bitch puppy.

If he does refuse point black to sign the registration papers. Then i'd name and shame him that way people will be less likely to use his stud dogs services. Therefore it will hurt him financially and let everyone else know what an arsehole he is. It's obvous why he wants a bitch pup when he's breeding from a 16month old bitch   the bloke wants a serous talking too :- "

weeeell, situation resolved. bloke A refused to come at all, but bloke B got him to sign. to my relief no puppy went [due to A not attending] but revenge was taken on us with the stud fee. under A's insistance the price was higher. so, instead of 250, it was 350. thankfully it's paid and dealt with, but xmas is mullered. we've just paid 265 on [yet more] white goods, and, just to ensure a wrist-slitting yuletide, the oven on my cooker has just buggered up, YAY! ah well, saves washing up, and steak and chips isn't a hardship

by the by, having been face to face with B, it transpires that A has indeed done this before, and that in future, be it another mating or advice on bloodlines etc, to deal with him only for peace of mind on both sides. to quote stephen 'are we F*** going back!' just a shame because this stud is perfect for amber.

on another note, B adored the pups, and was rather impressed on how dante filled out. he did prefer the bitch [btw, someone suggested cruella, as in 101 dalmations, because of her colouring] because her personality is brilliant, but does indeed rate the boys looks.

and thanks pam, it was a hell of a shock, especially as we'd known both these guys for 2 1/2yrs now. if not friends, i'd at least have put them as more than aquaintances, given how much time we've spent updating each other on our respective dogs, etc. I thought my cynicism-o-meter was set extraordinarily high, but after this lot it went up a few notches.

sod it, lets all have a great xmas and new year. wishing all the best to all k9'ers far and wide

xxx
