I need a bit of advise,

When Smirnoff gets really exsited when saying hello, and in one of her funny half hours she has a tendancy to nip and mouth. I have been told to yelp and say no, have been trying this with not alot of luck.

Is there any other ways to help stop this ??

as it gose on a bit longer than one or 2 nips and she dosen't listen to "no"

I'm not sure if its something she will grow out of once she has finnshed teething, but its still something I would prefer to try and nip in the bud so to speak. she has enough exsersize and she has no E numbers in her food.

the other thing I wanted some tips on is "separation anxsity" the vet told me that it will have to be done slowly and over time, but I was wondering if any of you had any tips that have worked for your dogs/puppies ??

Thanks for your time,

I take it she's still a cute little puppy? If so, yes they are little  for quite a while  just keep doing what you're doing and then one day (hopefully) she will grow out of it :p

(a Dylan fan I presume? :)) )

oh yes she is still a gorgeous little puppy !!! and is very well behaved !! I am quite shocked how well,

but apart from her made half hours when she acts like a crocodile  and we don't seem to be able to carlm her down at that time,

yea big dylan fan too lol !! :D

When we went to pick up Molly puppy the exact words her breeder said to us were 'Good luck, you're gonna need it!!!'

She is a little angel now but at the time her favourites were toes, at one point I thought she was possessed

If Jinny got overexcited I used to gently hold her jaws closed and say the 'no' word/sound until she calmed down.

It's worked a treat! She only nips my OH now

If mine are getting nippy when i come through the door i just turn around with my back to them and they get soon get the idea that i dont like it. They are still allowed to jump up (they cant contain themselves!)

can i ask who Dylan is???? :))

When they do that nipping as puppies I gently take hold of the muzzle (hand over the top) and press the upper lip gently over the upper canine teeth. It hurts a bit (the teeth are sharp as you know) and they soon stop the "game" because they find it uncomfortable. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right it doesn't damage them.

Good luck, it is only normal pup behaviour. Smirnoff will soon know that The Times They Are A-Changin' You have to be a Tough Mama about this. If it all get s a bit difficult you can train her to Lay, Lady, Lay :)

Has anyone got any advice for the separation anxiety? I haven't had any experience of it but I think some on here have.

Have you been crate training her?

Smirnoff has not been crate trained because I have decided not to use one for her, she sleeps in her bed or on mine, :D

we have the kitchen which we have another bed in which we are going to use to train her in to leave her alone in.

the vet told me it is a long prosses and has to be done gradualy,

I have been trying to do a session each day where she is alone for a bit, we are in the house, so she can hear us, to get used to that first, and then when that finaly works try her with us standing outside the house (asif we aren't there).

I just wondered if there were any other ways of trying to train her apart from in a way getting her to cry it out as such.

apart from these 2 things she is good as gold o:) has to be said, lovely little girly  couldn't imagin life without her now, :b and its only been a week and a half of having her

What you're doing sounds fine to me  we didn't use a crate with Molly either as she had a bit of an accident in it when we'd only had her a few days so she was petrified of it. I'd just heard it was easier if you had a crate. We used to get little puddles if we left her, she never cried, except when we went to sleep at night! When we got Lenny he was fine too, I think because we already had Molly - or perhaps we were just lucky :D
