Hi everyone I love to walk in the countryside around Wordsley in the West Midlands. There are park areas for the children, marked football pitchs’, swings and slide

Walking along the canal side is peaceful and beautiful.

Where would you take the dog and kids to walk and why?

I'm spoilt for choice - I am within a mile of a beautiful wood and a lot of open heathland, plus there's a local park with playing fields and a nature reserve area. I love the heath most, I think - it feels so wild and open. My dog loves it too!

We have coast, hills and forests near us.

Right now though, in Scotland, we are not supposed to travel for exercise any further than we need to in order to be somewhere safe and uncrowded. So the only time I have been out of our town this year is to do click and collect for groceries, I'm getting really fed up of the walks I can do from my front door. I'm desperate to go back to the Glencoe Lochan Trail.

It’s the same in England you can’t travel at the moment. But we live right by the canal so can still walk there.

That sounds absolutely wonderful. We do have a local wood but it is not very big.

We are in Scotland (Perth) where the rule is we can travel for exercise within our Local Authority or a few miles beyond. It's tough on those in, say, tiny Clackmannanshire but Perthshire is huge and we have a great choice of beautiful places such as The Hermitage - a gorge made by the River Tay with waterfalls and some of Britain's biggest trees.

I think you will find there is a qualification on that - from the Scottish Government website -

[Travel is permitted for] local outdoor informal exercise such as walking, cycling, golf, or running (in groups of up to 2 people, plus any children under 12, from no more than 2 households). Exercise can start and finish at a place in your local authority area (or up to 5 miles from its boundary), but you should travel no further than you need to reach to a safe, non-crowded place to exercise in a physically distanced way.

No kids to walk here But it only makes dog walks so much more precious!
We are lucky, I guess - we don't mind driving a little bit, and have more than a few favorite places within an easy drive.
We can climb up into the mountains:

We can hike around lakes:

We can walk along the Hudson river, on the wild side:

We can walk can walk along the Hudson river on the civilized side, and see some water action in the evening, or even take a quick dip:

Or, when we feel more social (or more depressed) than usual and really need a reminder that life goes on, we can drive to New York City and enjoy a walk there. Still an awesome place, even with masks and distancing:

There is more!! Maybe one day I will go through my photos and pull some decent ones from our other favorite walks.

Gosh, we take our dog everywhere. She loves the beach and running on the shore, we hike in the woods, or sometimes we take a leisurely walk on the road saying hi to the neighbors as we go. But we live on a horse farm so our dog gets to run and enjoy all of our acres as well (with us, she has an enclosed yard when we aren't all outside together ).

You’re not far from Kinver which I remember had some beautiful areas for walking.

I love walking, lucky to live in Yorkshire and enjoy walking in the North York Moors, beautiful scenery! (and extremely muddy this time of year)

We’re lucky to live in the Marches, within 10 miles of Monmouthshire and Gloucestershire. Wonderful woods to explore as well as river banks. However no beaches, although with good fortune (fingers crossed and three Hail Marys) we’ll be in Cornwall in May. Stay safe all.
