That sounds like a really sensible suggestion to me too

ok il try to explain this but not sure your understand what im going on about      dad said

what if... for the opens running maidens can they not  add to each weight group of the draw a slip that just says "MAIDEN"

this way it will not alter any program other than the maiden winners name to be put in on the day by us when the weights are given out

this way the worse that could happen is.......the maiden winner is not booked in to run at the following open so the "MAIDEN" on the program would be a non runner.

     if all clubs running maidens adopted the "phantom maiden" added to the draw, the problem of any dog running 2 maidens would never occur.

makes perfect sense to me when dad said it, hope im putting it across so you all get what im going on about :teehee:

great idea i had spoke to my dad about this in the week

Can I just say how refreshing it is that people are willing to promote change, I hope that this idea moves forward as it does seem like a sensible solution to the issue. On that note, can some-one..........any-one........ Judy Booker (font of all knowledge) answer my question about the authority over the running of maidens, is it a club issue, or WCRA. In a way, it would be easier if it was WCRA as a blanket ruling would be a much easier strategy to change. I am doubtful though, I think it will be down to individual clubs to change and therefore, may not happen. Perhaps, if this is the case, some-one (Neil/Julie) could write to clubs who hold maidens with this suggestion and get a response? :- "

Thats a good idea. Your Dad should not be swapped for a puppy after all Julie. Keep him :D

Well not all knowledge Jo! I don't for instance know your middle name :D but I don't think Maidens really come under the WCRA. At least when the question of whether dogs that had won the puppy derby should be allowed to run in Maidens was brought up recently, they apparently said it was up to the clubs. But I could be wrong.

so will gloucester be picking it up and running with this idea :- "

Well, my mioddle name is Elizabeth, so my initials are JEM, and I think I am one :- "

As I said Julie, I think it would be lovely for Mr Peppermint to write to or e-mail all clubs who run maidens with his excellent suggestion  It will (if I remember  Juney remind me!) be an issue which is raised at the AGM at Glos, we, as a club, run two maidens per year, so it will be an important discussion :))

oh Oh OH.............

just had an excellent idea..........................

Scrap every-thing we have talked about and ask ALL clubs to run maidens at their opens, people wouldn't worry so much then and there would be no administration or agro

Brilliant, what a guy :huggles:

I think that is a brilliant idea too - let's hope the rest of the clubs like the idea too  I expect like Gloucester it will have to be discussed at the AGM, but hopefully by next year some clubs will have it in place

I forgot to say - I'm sure the WCRA wouldn't want to have any input in Maidens, as they are not for points, and I'm certain they would say it's up to clubs - the same way as they don't make rules for the Puppy Derby - it's left to the clubs to make the rules on age etc ;)

That would be up to the members Julie but I'm sure it will now be brought up for discussion at the next AGM to be voted on. Democrat lot we that we are :D

Of course this only needs to be done if one clubs maiden immediately follows another Maiden.

it will work if a dog wins any open without a maiden as well judy  if it is entered in the maiden the following week...it can be slotted in to the main

for example, earlier this year a dog won its half coat at the champs then ran an open the following week in the maiden, at this late stage programs would have been printed and to late to move the dog :sweating: ....so it just proves that the recent "double maiden winners"

is not the only reason to consider putting this idea in place

i can only see plus sides to this idea, so fingers crossed others will follow s.cots and give it ago
