Sorry to hear about the loss of the pups - it must be heartbreaking. There is some small consolation that Meg is OK.

Tony

Thanks everyone-

Took Meg out today for a short walk in the countryside-buried her pups there in a tree hollow.

Taken her out of the room where she was caring for her pups and put her back in the room where she normally sleeps with Whitey and Kipper.

She's looking ok-bright and alert but naturally whimpering/looking for them from time to time.

Steve is devastated-

Who knows why such things happen?

She's had the best care possible throughout-nutrition,surroundings,exercise and love-she's incredibly fit and so is the father-Whitey-Optimum conditions-so why?

Megs at the vets on Monday for a check up and her stitches come out in 10 days time-

Maybe when she's strong again we'll have another try-depending on what advice the vet gives us.

Thanks again everyone for e-mails etc...

so sorry to hear about your loss nobody knows why these things happen but only time will heal the pain you are feeling

Herpes virus will cause similar problems with pre an neo-natal deaths. If you try again it may be worth having Meg "immunised" at the time.

so sorry steve,

What heart breaking news. Poor Meg. Her little walks and going back to sleep with the others will help alot and lots of cuddles, time heals its so sad all the little ones died.

Thinking of you all.

This is so sad, I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your puppies. :(

What a very sad time for you and Meg, I really feel for you all. :(

Oh really sorry for your loss, hope Meg recovers quickly, thinking of you.

Julie

Its really important that you get meg straight back into her normal routine, its a blessing that the pups were not born normally... try not to give her no special treatment to the other dogs in your house hold..it may be hard on her and yourselves for a few days but this will pass quickly.

my heart goes out to you all ...dee

Thanks for asking-I don't know who is worse-Steve or Meg? It's really upset him and made him feel quite poorly.

Megs ok-not got her savage appetite back yet! but she is eating and hopefully will get stronger each day-She's still trying to hide food for the pups but again hopefully this desire will fade-She's on antibiotics and her milk seems to be going away on its own.

She's obviously depressed/quiet but she was ragging an old towel with Coral last night and has taken to running upstairs again in the morning to get in our bed so hopefully it won't be too long before she's back to her normal self.

We aim to build her back up slowly, get her racing again for fitness and line her again next year-we spoke to the vet earlier this week.

Karen

Glad that Meg seems to be improving & wish you all the luck in the world for next time, it really is a sickener, just can't imagine what you've all been through. :luck:

We lost 2 out of a 3 pup litter 7 yrs ago, like you we stayed up all hours trying to keep them alive to no avail. We felt all kinds of emotions as no doubt you are. Can only say we feel for you. Your intentions to raise another litter soon is in our opinion the only way to get back on track & put the bad memories behind you.

Sorry to come in late on this only just noticed it.
