does anyone know how to go about adding extra memory to your computer?

all you need to do is check your PC manual and find out which memeroy it has in it (new ones have DDR memory ) then you just buy a new memory stick slot it in next to the existing 1 (1's) re-boot your computer and your PC will recognise it and hey presto your sorted.

I have a friend whos into computers big style - he just added extra memory for me - Im not sure about doing it myself yet. He took my tower overnight then brought it back to me.

if you have the memory there it's a 2 minute job and body could do it.

I had a call from a customer one day who said they'd bought a memory module & plugged it in but it didn't seem to work - could I go and sort it out for them. On arrival I had a look at their PC only to discover they'd plugged it in UPSIDE DOWN (w00t) with the edge connector bit waggling about in the air.

Now for anyone who's added memory to their computer they'll know just how dumb that is. Mark you're right - anybody could do it, but I guess that isn't everybody...

umm now Nigel the question is had they tried instaling it a PCI slot 1st lol?

at least they hadnt rammed it in the CD-rom to instal it like you do software? lol (I wonder if anyone has tried that!)
