I took Ruby on the beach at Withernsea today. Dogs are able to be taken on the beach in the centre of town during the winter but I took a poo bag along as you would expect. Ruby was having a good chase around when quite a large mongrel - bit of a staffie look - came bounding along on his own. As Ruby is only 5 months I put her on the lead. The dog did pounce on her, but wasn't really aggressive. I looked around for his owner and saw a man standing some distance away on the promenade at the top of the steps. The dog went a few hundred yards along the beach, cocked his leg up , had a s*** and turned round and came back, up the steps to his owner.

I shouted to the chap

"You ought to be on the beach with your dog"

"What for?"

"So that you can clean up after your dog, and also have him under control. He frightened my pup" [i did exaggerate]

"Your dog isn't even worth my dog looking at" was his last shout as the 'orrible man moved off up the road.

Well, by that last remark at least I knew I had rattled him

people not picking up after their dog in a you public place such as beach, park and street really annoys me. There is no need as our council gives the bags for free. Someone can stand on it (i often had, and there is nothing worse). Sometimes here i see dog mess outside peoples houses and think that is so rude, you cant help where your dog does the toilet, but at least pick up.

That was a horrible thing that man shouted to you about Ruby as we all know she is  , probably just shouting back as he knew you were right. Some people can be so ignorant, don't pay any attention to him.

Hope that didn't spoil your day too much and Ruby had fun playing on the beach.

Do you live in Withernsea?

I must say there is alot of dogs being walked there and not all are cleaned up after...good for you for saying something.

And we all know Ruby is gorgeous, so his opinion doesn't count.

No I don't live in Withernsea [thank goodness] but go for my dog food there, so Ruby gets a run on the beach. I usually go to more rural beaches though. I am about 10 miles away.

I knew I had rattled him by his remark, so wasn't upset, just angry at his laziness and don't care attitude. He is obviosly a local who gets all other dog owners a bad name.

If you are bringing yours over this way send me a pm and we could meet up

   Vile man! Hope it didn't upset you too much.

I just don't understand people who leave their dogs mess for the next person to step in. It really is so ignorant and rude, and does a huge disservice to clean dog owners who lose the privilege of taking their dogs to parks and beaches because of it.

I hope he steps in a ton of smelly poo :p :- "

NO ,I HOPE HE FALLS HEAD FIRST IN A PILE OF POO.LADY P :- "

Isnt that just disgusting...

We live in a small village here and always clean up after our dogs, but some dont... Ive even gone out and seen it right outside my front door...

some people

I HATE dog owners who don't clear up after their dogs, it gives all of us a bad name

We have people here who leave piles of poo on the pavements, even outside the local infant school just where the kids are likely to stand in it - there's a poo bin a couple of yards away. I just don't know how they can do it, I'd be too embarrassed to walk away and leave it.

I made the ultimate mistake the other day of forgetting to take any bags out with me - normally I have loads in every pocket of every coat I posses (w00t) . I didn't realise until Sophie did a large poo in the middle of the High Street and I reached inside my pocket and realised it was empty. I was absolutely mortified, people were walking past glaring at me :b I had to ask someone going into Tescos to bring me a carrier bag out to deal with it (then walk the dogs home smartly praying none of the others would decide to 'perform' on the way :- " )

I did the same thing when out with my old now-departed greyhound. I had to leave my poor embarrassed grand-daughter guarding it [the pile] whilst I went in the supermarket to get a bag. No wonder my grand-kids aren't keen on coming out with me

this is also a personal hate of mine too.why do people not clean up after their dogs?it ruins it for the rest of us conscientious dog owners.theres a guy who walks his 2 large ill mannered boisterous black labs near us,they crap everywhere and he never cleans up after them.they run into me and my dogs when out on a walk and he has no control over them at all.ive often cleaned up after them myself as i dont want to have the wildlife park closed to dog walkers just cos of selfish inconsiderate people like this

What an ignorant specimen of a man he is

Fancy leaving his dog to run free with no control on a beach (w00t)

If it runs up to a child and frightens it then it'd be a different story.

Hope Ruby enjoyed her run anyway :huggles:

Well unfortunately there are hell of alot of people who don't pick up after their dogs. They just don't think it is part of good public relations aswell as against the neighbourhoods & environment act 2005.

I usually say if someone comments, normally children, whilst I'm 'dealing with it' would you like to stand in it. They nearly always say no. I then reply that's one reason why I pick it up.
