MITZI

Dear Mitzi is a 9.5 year old greyhound lady who has fallen on bad times recently. She was homed by Kerry Greyhounds UK 2 years ago but has tragically just lost her beloved owner and now finds herself in rescue once again. She is a beautiful brindle lady with a very refined look about her.

~ Personality ~

Mitzi is obviously very confused and lost right now, and we are appealing to get this girl into a new stable home as soon as possible. She is very sweet and friendly, happy to meet everyone both young and old, and really just wants nothing more than a soft sofa and a cuddle.

~ In the Home ~

Mitzi has spent years in a home environment and loves her comforts. She is perfectly behaved in the home and caused no trouble at all for her late owner. She is housetrained and quiet through the night, though is used to having company of some sort during the day. This loving lady would be an ideal companion for a retired couple who could dote on her all day long and spoil her rotten for the rest of her life.

~ Out and About ~

Though now approaching her twilight years, Mitzi still has a spring in her step and gets great enjoyment from her daily walks. She very much likes the routine of a walk in the morning followed by a long afternoon snooze. She walks like a gem on the lead, is very low maintenance and needs very little to be completely content.

~ Other Animals ~

Mitzi is good with other dogs and is very polite in her greeting of them provided they don’t jump all over her. Like many older ladies, she doesn’t want to play with ‘young hooligans’ and would be much happier with the quiet company of another older dog. She would, in turn, provide excellent and gentle company for an older dog. She can not be homed with cats and may need to be watched if a lot of small dogs are running loose, but in general she is very good.

~ Medical Issues ~

Mitzi has had a vet check-up and dental recently and apart from a couple bad teeth, was found to be in good health. She has now had these teeth removed and is eating all around her.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

~ Where Am I? ~

Mitzi is currently in foster care in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet and collect her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Mitzi is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe. We can look after approximately 30 greyhounds at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and given a full veterinary check before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in Ireland, the UK, Central Europe and the USA.

If interested in one of our hounds, please EMAIL me for our adoption application form and information pack. Once you have filled in and returned the application form, we will then contact you via phone or email to discuss adopting one of our hounds in more detail.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. I can be contacted through the following email:

Emails are usually replied to within 24hrs.

Thank you.
