depends if you are going to have them neutered to be honest, I had a dog and bitch for years (both neutered) and now have two dogs and both couples mixed and lived happily together.
It depends on the dog also if they don't show any aggresion towards either sex then you should be ok but again it depends if you going to get them spayed or else you will have a anxious time trying to keep them parted for 3 wks, I take my dog to a carer often a company called Holidays 4 dogs and they have their own dogs there and my dog gets on with both sexes and never had a problem with a sex of a dog
