 Our Molly, who is now 12 months is becoming a bully!!

Ben is our 14 yr old boy, she takes his bones off him, will not let him get in front of the fire, steals his biscuits and his chews and any toys he wants.

Of course we always correct the situation. Ben is too old and laid back to argue but it is making him a bit miserable :( :( :(

Is she trying it on to test the boundaries as she matures ( if she ever matures)???. she is becoming a little Minx  I dont like to see Ben so miserable .

Any advice would be welcome.

The only advice I can offer is to make sure your big boy gets all of the privaliges...sleeping upstairs, coming on the sofa, being fed first, given treats first, going through doors before her...when the little bully does the opposite

But she may just be the natural boss, and he the underdog and that's how its going to be, but make sure there are two beds in front of the fire and that Ben gets lots of special time with you on his own.

THANKYOU FOR YOUR REPLY............... WE DO MAKE SURE WE DO ALL THOSE THINGS. HE SLEEPS UPSTAIRS WITH US- MOLLS HAS THE KITCHEN.

WHEN WE GO OUT HE HAS THE LIVING ROOM -MOLLS HAS THE KITCHEN SO THAT SHE DOES NOT BOTHER HIM .

I THINK SHE IS JUST JUST GOING TO BE A BOSSY WOMAN.

Oh dear :( Poor Ben.

The bitch is normally the boss so it's not unusual but the age difference means that Ben won't challenge back

Keep comforting Ben, as you're doing, and maybe give Mollie a filled Kong toy to keep her amused and away from Ben?

Good luck :huggles: :luck:

I've been giving this some thought as Syke nicks Phoebe's chews, toys, and generally likes to get her own way, however because Phoeb is younger than your old boy and actually a bossy madam she won't always put up with it but this does cause some scraps :- " :)) .

So I've been doing a few things lately that seem to be working - firstly always make sure there are more toys and chews than dogs so Ben can move onto another that isn't second best . Also teach Molly to 'Leave' so that she will listen to you as she tries to pinch something, that has been really effective for me :))

When my girls have a rare together moment sharing a bed and even a chew :b I tell them how clever they are and give them fuss and affection and conversely if I am fussing one of them and the other tries to barge in then I ignore them or push them away. Important to make sure you do have individual quality time with each of them though too :)

Hope this helps, also I think Molly is still pretty young so she still has plenty of settling down to do yet  :luck:
