Im totally new at having 2 dogs - this will be a first. The question is about sleeping arrangements on those very first few nights.

Would you start as you mean to go on

Oscar sleeps downstairs on his own couch now (with baby gate on the door) only to keep him contained and allow the cats to go out also. (They have a catflap)

Would you crate the puppy in the same room and risk the howling or crying upsetting Oscar or put him seperate for the first few nights, or let them sleep on the sofa together. ??? I know Joanna took Fynn into her bedroom but then wanted him to sleep somewhere else after a while, Im just not certain what to do.

So what do you think is best - please any advice. :sweating:

I am probably worrying without due cause ... but I want to be prepared when the baby arrives.

Thanks everyone

crate the puppy in the same room as oscar . so they can both get some rest.

this worked for us

I agree, I would crate the pup in the same room as Oscar. Hopefully having him close by will reassure the pup and they will both sleep well. good luck, don't forget pix. :huggles:

I had a big crate for callie and Sienna already but also had a small crate from when they were pups so I put the small one next to the big one I put in a nice furry blanket and a teddy and also the blanket that chris gave me, the only problem i had was for the first few nights she woke up at about 2am (w00t) and didn't want to go back to sleep, after a bit I said right thats it I need to be strong( got some moral support from Tina who was going through the same thing) it killed me having to listen to her cry, but it worked.

Each night she would trot off into her crate and the girls into their's then one night she went into theirs laid down they went in and did the same and thats how it's been ever since.

When I tell them it's bed time they all go in together and go to sleep :huggles:

I don't think I would leave the pup on the couch unsupervised until you know how they are together and how the puppy is at night, he might pester Oscar while he's trying to sleep, or he might hurt himself

Thanks folks - I was thinking myself 'CRATE' but dont quite know what Oscars gonna think about NOISE (w00t) (w00t) he will get used to it I suppose  wont be for long - at least it wasnt with Oscar - he hardly cried at all but he was slightly older when I got him at 13 weeks.
