As well as all the usual munching of blackberries, hawthorn hips, goose grass, dandelion flowers etc throughout the year, I have noticed two new additions to TJ and Django's diets at present!!

TJ just cannot eat enough of the berry/hip orange things that fall off the tree just by my garage. I haven't got a clue what sort of tree it is (must take a photo and see if any of you gardening buffs can identify it). They don't seem to have done him any harm but none of the others have ever shown any interest in them.

Django is actively seeking out, picking and eating mauve Thistle flowers like there is no tomorrow!!!

Nowt so queer as Whippets!!

  - Try and put a picture on Dessie of the hips ... its amazing what whippets will eat isnt it.

hope they arnt poisonous though (w00t)

Thats a Pyracantha

Some Pyracanthas will produce enormous crops of brilliant berries providing an outstanding seasonal spectacle. For really striking effect consider putting two together. Pyracantha 'Soleil d'Or' will be laden with deep yellow berries from autumn onwards. Pyracantha 'Mohave' will put on a superb show of red berries to match. These plants can look great planted together on a shaded house wall or over a doorway. The seasonal colour and interest from this pair is non-stop. Being evergreens, Pyracanthas keep their leaves all year round; in spring both 'Soleil d'Or' and 'Mohave' bear tiny white flowers followed by their showy berries. Pyracanthas are especially striking on grey winter days when the berries are still present on many of the varieties. Another bonus is that they can attract birds for nesting and food. Imagine having your own tuneful blackbird nesting just outside the kitchen door in spring.

We have a Pyracantha by the front door and as we come back from a walk Monty try's to snatch great mouthfuls, none of the others do, perhaps he has foreign blood (w00t) (w00t) (w00t)

Not if you have a couple of cats sitting virtually in the branches on the garage roof!!!

Eli seems to seperate the garden into 'things to wee on', and 'things to eat'. The one thing to definitely NOT wee on is Borage, he can't get enough of it!

Strange my two also ponygirl

they adore the purple rockery plant (aubretia) cant think why, ) just outside my back door and nibble bits out as soon as they go outside.

mine eat great chunksof Cumphry ( which is called `knitbone by gypsys` (w00t) .) perhaps they have `broken` something in their tummy

I cut it up , put it in a bucket of water , let it soak then use it as a fertilizer  but they just eat the leaves :huggles:
