the rescue need to charge a small fee to continue the work they do

i dont feel they are asking for a lot as the bitch would have been speyed...this alone can cost up to 200 pounds.

maybe if money is tight for you, then you should have a good think about getting a 2nd dog  we never know when our pets will need the vet, so will you be able to afford any treatment at a later stage?

good luck :luck: if you do get her

I hope this works out for you and Lorna, Kat

It's one thing living from day to day in your situation, but finding a lump sum isn't the easiest thing to do so I understand your concern :huggles:

I would willingly contribute towards Chloe's "rescue fee" - and I'm sure there are other K9ers who would also do the same :)

I always think that K9 is a valuable network of whippet lovers and that there is strength in numbers

Hope that is the right code/ number I gave you :b and all goes well so that you can get Cleo out, keep us posted  Are you sure those charges ( however much) are 'sterling' and not 'euro's' ? :b .....not that the exchange rate is that great at the moment anyway!! :(

It does say on the website that they ask for 150 Euro donation (and yes I think that is more than many rescues request)

what about transport, that will cost too?

any further info of Cleo or any of the others?

Cleo sounds eminently adoptable. I am not clear whether or not Carrick has a no-kill policy???

Our local rspca is £125 for a bitch - a lot more than 150 euros I think?

150 euros is a very small amount to ask most rescues i know charge between 150 and 200 pounds.each dog costs money for a rescue and as you say spaying alone can cost 200 pounds and more.a lot of rescues also vaccinate and microchip,i wouldnt expect them to do this for free as funds in rescues are usually in a dire situation.i know one in ireland recently who told me that theyd wrote out cheques for the food bill and the wages and there wasnt any money in the bank to cover any of it and they were praying for a miracle. :( as for vets bills well the pdsa will usually treat pets belonging to people on benefits, but if its anything complicated and needing extensive treatment they might say no and then what would happen.might be an idea to think about insurance.

Any updates? Hope it works out for you Kat and Lorna - Cleo looks like a lovely girl.

I looked at the website today and Cleo and Mouse are both still listed as needing homes.

today Cleo isn't listed but Mouse in Cork still is (I'm sure she looks better now with her coat in better condition than in the photo and she could lose a bit of weight)

a whippet owner in Meath is looking to rehome a 9month old blue dog due to lack of time to attend to the dog, not in rescue but listed on rescue pages
