Big well done to John and Penny  and to Andrew and Louise with their 2  Gutted to read about Andrew getting hurt :( Sending big hugs to Alison and Colin, and wishing one of my favourite big lads a full and speedy recovery :luck: :luck:

Well done all, good to see Purely Belter up and running ;) sorry to hear about Andrew hope he is ok

Well done to everyone for yesterday some very good performances and a big pat on the back to everyone who helped, it's nice that people realise how much help is needed and come to offer it to ease some pressure. A very disapointing turnout for us, i'm hoping today for an open in memory of two devoted whippet racers brings more dogs in, the club puts a lot of time and effort in to provide camping on a site with good facilities, a decent track and an event that gives 100% payout, trophies for all classes, certificates, presentation jackets and a format that favours no weight class in particular it does make you wonder is it really worth it when you're rewarded with a low entry.

Best wishes to Andrew who was badly injured when he got his foot stuck down the side of his kickboard, he was rushed straight to the vets who operated on him to repair the ligaments but he will still need a further operation as it isn't a straight forward repair. I'm sure Alison will fill us all in when she's got him settled at home.

I am so sorry that we can not be with you again today as we really enjoyed the event yesterday--

The poor turn out must be most upsetting when this club goes the extra mile every time when putting on thier opens--

Weeks of planning and getting every thing in place is never easy and i can understand the dissapointment at such a low turn

The days of respecting other clubs/opens seems to have gone along with many other little aspects of this once great sport -sad but true------

The over subscribed callender needs to be addressed for next year -

There are no better facillities anywhere in the country than the A & T club -

A club/showers /parking/food /tracks/workers/camping all available ---

still they get a poor turn out WHY????????????????

begars belief !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

steve

just my opinion here but maybe people just cant afford it. weve just had 11 days in devon then we r having a further 10/11 days up scotland. i 4 one have only got one days holiday left so maybe people just cudnt get there. although i know u dont have to stay the weekend. we never came as weve nothing to race. we r hoping sparklin whizz,z toe holds up in scotland, the pups arent ready and digga just likes handicap racing lol as ive said maybe one day we might get there with dogs to race.

It is a shame when clubs dont get a good turnout, but think Carole's hit the nail on the head.Devon not so long back, then Fordingbrige and Scotlond soon. It's alot for folk to manage to attend all the events

We have been discussing this just this morning, maybe like Steve said oversubscribed calendar, there is something on every week and with the best will in the world it is impossible to attend everything and can be very expensive, even if you have a brilliant dog the cost always outweighs the winnings. I know its not about the money because if it was we would all have given up many years ago, but sometimes like Carole says we have to make choices to which events we are to attend, and if working on Saturdays again its another thing we have to consider.

I agree lots of hard work goes into these events, organisers work their butts off to make their events the best they can and facilities for many venues are getting better an better, think its just a sign of the times. Maybe if there were less prestigious events they would be attended better, who knows and who is willing to forego their opens to see if it would benefit the sport, because the opens do bring in a little revenue to the clubs.... is there an answer, i dont know....

well we would have been there, we won one of these last year and would of loved to run for it again

but my bitch is just getting put right off a bad injury and didn't want to make things worse,,anyway what more do you want free camping

will be there next year all being well

I was not having a go at anyone ---

never my intention -

more just constructive critism of the vast amounts of opens every month-

surely this needs addressing now--

this is only my opinion -not put on to upset anyone at all

have just been told there is a much better turnout today for which i am glad for the club

I didnt read that you were Steve just making a point that lots of us see :)

Glad a better turn out for A & T today

its the same every year with the opens and every year people say the same thing.. theres too many. but as trojan said these opens do bring in revenue. i know @ wallsend we now make some money off the food this helps immensly towards the rent & public liabitly. i dont think clubs will stop putting opens on. i do like to go to different clubs too as it give the worlers from their own club a break. i dont know the answer. but i am glad the turn out is better today now has anyone GOT RESULTS PLEASE?
