today took my whippet bitch out on a football field to watch my son play been there for about an hour, looked down at her an dher face had swollen quite dramatically around her muzzle area, then it moved up her face around her eyes and slowly down her neck. After around an hour her swelling went down a little but the muzzle area still a little swollen probably an allergic reaction to a bite from an insect, what i would like to know is does anyone know of anything to counter-act this reaction?

ive heard a lot of people use childrens piriton

my daughters jack russel is allergic to most things :( and i use this on her when she swells up :- "

Yes, I agree. Low dose Piriton is a good fix for allergic reaction.

Like you say, must have been a bite or a sting from a dopey bee?? :(

Hope she gets better soon :luck:

Hi - yes anti-histamine either tablet form or you can get a 'rub' type pen which you cover the area with. My whippet caught a wasp in her mouth whilst at a show a few weeks ago she chomped it and it must have stung because she started pawing at it. A fellow exhibitor lent me this pen type rub and it stopped swelling.

ANY IDEA WHAT IT WAS CALLED?

4mg piriton is the best for the dogs.

I believe its the same dose to buy over the counter in the chemist as to what you can get from the vets.

cheers from everyone that has had time to read and reply!!!

:(

poor dog.

My Jasper is allergic to nettles at this time of year, after they have flowered, for some reason.

He swells up like tyhat and i get scared he's gonna suffocate if it goes too far down his neck.

Piriton works wonders !!
