Hello all

After much discussion and waiting 2 years for the time to be right we finally purchased Maggie back in october. She arrived to us as a 6 month old pup who had always lived in kennels, very timid and a little bit overwhelmed by this 'house' thing and a strange family to get to know.

She is now not so timid and overwhelms US on a daily basis LOL. She is the best dog I have ever had or known. Shes very loving and affectionate but also just bonkers enough to be fun. She goes from snoozing quietly on the sofa curled up behind my bum in between me and my little girl to pinging around the room, play fighting with OH and generally causing havoc. She enjoys her friday nights in our local pub waiting for my little girl to come out of youth club and now walks in and asks for her piece of pork pie. She has her friends on our field she plays with and can spot her favoutie (buster the springer spaniel) a mile away!

She is so much fun, yet so good and trainable as well. She is a little dog with a huge personality and we absolutely adore her. Everyone should have a whippet I think!

Thank you. We just adore her. I was a bit unsure about OH's reaction to having a dog in the house as he is very house proud and likes things just so. However, he never complains about the whippet shaped patch on the sofa or the chewed up flip flops or the little paw marks on the door or paintwork as he just dotes on her, lol. I have played him a little bit and told him how she cries and frets when he leaves the room, or goes to work and how she listens for his car pulling in the drive at night and bolts to the back gate to see if she can see him. Slight exaggerations but its worked a treat!

Mandy she had to have a good old irish name. Shes a Barnesmore whippet so came from the emerald isle originally. Her pa is B.Snoop Dog and her mum B.Once Upon a Dream. Her posh name is Barnsmore Red Kite.

Lovely, lovely little girl with, what looks like, bonkers ears to match personality :teehee: - i just love whippy ears! You do realise that one is never enough, we have two and a whippy X and are now looking for number 4. Have so far resisted a puppy as I think it would be nice to offer a home to a rescue when we find the right one. Have a lovely time with your girl, they are such fun and sooooo addictive!!!!

Dezmand, she's always finding the warmest, comfiest spot in the house. Doesn't matter if its a basket of washing, a pile of ironing or stretched out along OH while he snoozes on the sofa.

I'm hoping she will grow into her ears LOL, they are getting more in proportion but still have their mad moments.

We are very much owned by her. We normally have tea then all watch TV in the living room in the evenings, which is Maggies favourite part of the day as we are all together. She play fights with OH for 10 minutes, then squishes herself in the middle of me and my little girl whilst we do school reading and spellings and stuff. Anyhows, last night I had a pounding headache and we were late having tea so went to bed straight after we had eaten, about 8pm (we are up at 5am every day).

Well Miss Maggie was NOT impressed as she hadn't had her 'family' time. Howling and barking at the kitchen door, barking and generally throwing a wobbler because she hadn't been in the living room for an hour and we had dared to change her routine. I sent OH down for 20 minutes and he had a play fight with her and then came back up but she still wouldn't settle, so I had to get up for half an hour and let her have a snooze at the side of me. Little minx went straight to bed then and we didn't hear a peep out of her all night!

Shes lucky as I work from home so is with me all day so its not like she had been shut in 1 room by herself all day whilst we were all out. Shes generally quite good though does have a habit of honking her duck or squeeking her chicken if she thinks I have been on the phone too long! Luckily all my clients know I work from home and have a demented whippet as an office junior!
