My New Grey Rug

 Cerito - spot on with the guess, greyhound in the mix, hopeless with %ages but its either an eighth or sixteenth.

Zephyr, yup they are getting along nicely, Cairn is a very laidback bitch who can go days turning her nose up at whatever food offerings there are, so there is no competition or flashpoints around food, her main occupation in the house is sleeping -_- which she does ever so well  I'd say they are more interested in each others company outside, they  outside, great fun chasing in big circles, Caileag has up till now led an idillic life in a lovely remote area so is just getting used to a noisey household environment and having to do some walking with fast cars/buses/lorries passing etc, noticed she likes to be right up against Cairn when she's not sure (almost leaning on her physically), but both of them real stars not a cross word between them. :huggles:

Loopy - no real worries about hoovering  , usually work to the theory that no one ever visits when I've just cleaned anyway...so like to be sociable!

 Thanks to everyone who's had a look and such positive comments

aww they are both gorgeous   and lovely that they are getting along so nicely, good luck :luck: :luck:

Hows your hooligan in the making aka Duffy coming along Sprout  ? Some cracking pics of him in the General Dog related discussion section...he's fair perfected that look of like butter would'nt melt :huggles:

I've been offline learning to juggle life with a new dog. Walks / play / taking socks out of his mouth - when do I fit in work? The study has remained empty for the past few days; but already the scales say 2 pounds down!!

Bappit, love your lovely new addition. I am so glad I found Indy before you posted your news. I would have been green-eyed with envy.

But now I know how smug you must be feeling. These big dogs do attract a lot of attention don't they. I've never been spoken to by so many strangers!!

Oh he's fine thanks (in a sort of deranged puppy sort of way)

His best butter wouldn't melt look:- (but doorframes and skirting boards would still melt...)

Tell me about it Lind@ not so bad if they keep to clean socks and pants (mine have all preferred them to be fresh-from the dirty laundry basket that is! :x ). Indi is keeping you busy then  , strange the conversations you end up having with people when out with the dog...tire of the 'you could put a saddle on that' quickly though :- " Had become a mission to find you a textured one before posting about me new one...so that all worked out nicely by your goldfish expedition  Hope to see you out and about with him at some of the shows next year-you HAVE to show him :D

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Duffy  Somethings need doing thats all! I mean...those corners on tables and things just need a bit rounding off dont they...so good at making themselves useful

What is Caileag's story Bappit? Why did she need a new home?

No tale of woe with Caileag :D Cerito, just i had fancied a companion for Cairn and another dog to 'stagger' the ages (I hate not having a hound around) as Cairn is 5 that left the option of an older or young 'un, and although young pups are great fun I ... I was'nt keen on a young pup. Spoilt I suppose having had some lovely rescues over the years, who came with faults sure (least I could blame someone else for that:lol: ), but mainly housetrained and biddable (to some extent!)

Caileag was from a litter born in Febuary out of one of my friend's Deerhound studs, to a slight outcross bitch she had bred and homed to other friends of hers a few years before (she likes to keep a slight outcross strain going) - as although Deerhounds are almost free from inherited problems, a lot of people like the bit of 'hybrid vigour' and also feel that some of the pure bred deerhounds for the ring are getting a little away from the original. Cairn for example is from a coursing strain (also shown), which do well hunting partly I beleive as they are not to large or heavy. Bigger aint always better :- "

Anyway, my friend had kept two from the litter Caileag (Gaelic word for girl) and Baloch (Gaelic for boy), and knew I had a notion for another hound (she also runs a hound sanctuary, and there is a big demand at the moment for 'lurchers with texture'), so if the right one needing a home had came along, that no-one else wanted I'd have gone down that road, however I was very pleased (understatement  ) when she suggested I might like Caileag as she had decided she could'nt keep them all (also has two pure bred pups for show as well as all her adults deerhounds and lurchers, and one's that just 'stuck' in the rescue so ended up in the house :teehee: ...I've lost count  of how many are in the house), so Caileag visted a few times to get used to children, Cairn and the different environment, and was a complete o:) We are all delighted with her.

Thanks for letting me know Bappit. Shame I don't have any friends like that! :- "
