WOW they're incredible

 You have some stunning salukis

I reckon they are too, ( but am slighty biased) :- " nothing like them for stamina tho!

Am hooked on them!

Nothing like a Whippet for accelaration tho, now they are incredible to see out the traps or slips!! (w00t)

Very nice we had one lure coursing today with the North West Lure Coursing Club she was a pleasure to watch

quality pics, a friend and i had a rescue saluki back in 1980. we had some top sport on hare and fox, he was a real killing machine.

Saluqilad where you from? am guessing Scotland could be wrong!

Lovely looking dogs.

Stunning pictures of beautiful dogs.  love all of them

Hi thanks,

I've never met a saluki that was'nt Sparky

I'm in angus scotland Murphy :- "

Nice looking dogs mate, knew a lad who kept ped Salukis who lived round here. Had a couple of good days out with his dogs. Jesus they had some stamina , my whippet/greyhound bitch always beat them to the first turn , but if she didn`t pick up straight away , she`d be left for dead after a minute or so.They weren`t the most obedient dogs though , but were no problem with stock. I wish the coursing greyhound I had around the same time had been as intelligent :(

Stunning dogs SL, particularly like the colouring of 'Fudge' (RIP gorgeous one).

Now, I've always liked the look of these, and am in awe of their speed & stamina, committed to the the deerhounds and their x's myself, but have swithered once or twice when a nice saluki (or x saluki) has come up, but somehow the tales of how impossible some of them can be to train (especially on recall  ) has always put me off. How do you find them in that respect?

Will add, have a lurcherman friend who keeps a very efficent worker (slight outcross to greyhound), his theory is they take a long while to mature and build a bond/trust with their owner, his bitch like I say is excellent...but only with him, she'll do nowt for anyone else...do you find yours also to be that way?

Thanks again for all the compliments, lol good thing my Salukis can't read this they'd never fit thro the dog flap for the size of they heads lol. (w00t)

I have no problems with my salukis, I don't train them as such tho i just get them out and let them figure things out themselves, i find this is the best way with salukis.

They are difficult to some as there is a fine line between being overly harsh with them and not being firm enough. ;)

You really need to have a strong bond with them, all mine live in the house with me and are very much in tune with me for it. mine also are'nt interested in anyone else either

Lovely dogs - I've always wanted a Saluki  One day, maybe...

What colour would you describe the red one as in Saluki terms ?

Hi Moriarte,

I was told the correct term was mahogany grizzle, I always though red grizzle tho.

Thanks for the pic Lesley, mine won't chase the lure nowe only live game.
