Make sure its June or July then Geoff,and i'll introduce you to my other passion,ie,the art of Flyfishing for fresh run Salmon.Think whippet racing gives you a buzz.Hook a 5 or 6 lb er,on a single handed rod,and the adrenalin rush is unreal.But if youre not interested in catching you're own,i will certainly get one or two for you,what ever time you decide to come over.Nothing beats a bit of fresh Salmon.And from the way i seen it go,at Chatsworth one year,the English people love it.So do my dog's.And with the rain we are getting at the moment ,wont be long till they're here.Its absolutely pouring down all day.Hurray for soft ground.

I expect to "catch up with you" at Randalstown this year. For the whippets, a course of 150-200 yards is preferred, anything longer and they may lose ground to the other dogs. I think Martin has a non-ped whippet and the good ones are considerably faster than the pedigree whippets (like mine), may come in 15 to 20 yards ahead on a 150 course!
why not canvas the gamefairs, John, so maybe your club can do the race organising in 2008 or at least in 2009?

have you thought of more divisions (under 21 in, over 25 in, veterans small and large - if enough dogs are coming to the meets) and using shorter courses for the smaller dogs and/or using a handicap system as is done in whippet racing?

next year we will be doing exactly that..canvassing :thumbsup: weve considered the under 21s for our big show in august. as for handicapping... :wacko: minefield that is. ... needs thought over .im judgeing at TATTON PARK in august too so ill be promoting our club at that.
