bastard file?????

Is this the correct name??  I would hate to be chucked out of the local hardware store for bad language :b

Can't get the hang of quoting -what should I be doing to get the blue box around text I want to quote???

Hi Pollyanna, Click on the reply button at the bottom of the persond post you are replying to. If you just want to add a reply, without the blue box click on add reply at the bottom of the whole page  Hope that makes sense

I think it is the correct name  I remember Kris talking about them on another post and she assured us that she wasn't cursing and they were really called bastard files :sweating:

I just use a large pair of human clippers they cut Jillys nails no bother and she doesn't seem to mind getting them done at all :huggles: Its funny though Jakeys never need done and always look short and neat

Any suggestions appreciated .  BTW  What are the scissor type cutters??

These are what I use. I prefer to use the smaller pair, I find them easier than the large pair and they are just as sharp.

thanks Mazza,

I've found some on e-bay a pair by MIKKI and a pair by CRUFTS, so do you think the smaller ones are better, don't mind paying a bit more for a decent pair

Been reading all the tips on the other thread how to tackle the clipping

The smaller pair I use are 5" long, the grey handled ones are 6.5" long.

After using both pair I'v found the smaller ones are adequate enough and do the job well. Also as they are a small size I can see what I'm doing just a bit better.

Why use a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. :)

Do you think the scissor type ones you mention would be suitable to do cats claws with as well as dogs claws? (I know it's not necessarily normal to do cats claws but a few of my cats have to have one each of theirs done because that one claw doesn't grow normally). Also, is there a particular make that you'd recommend?

Cat's claws should'nt be any problem with this type.

Don't know what makes to recommend....... CK is a good name. Doggy Man? (too small to read) I think is the name on the pair I use.

no im not swearing its deffo called a bastard file!but if you dont want to ask for that tell them you want a rough ,cross cut ,engineers file.the reason its called that by the way is cos its used for so many different uses, its not a specific file for a specific job. they work a treat though.if they can do a dobermannns nails in 5 mins they can polish off a whippys in less than that!
