My 6 month old male whippet seems to have gone nuts! hes constantly chasing my cavalier spaniel and nips him ! he runs about mad and runs by and grabs him and the poor old cavs getting really annoyed at him and wondered if anyone elses whippets keep going for smaller dogs! am worried that he could hurt another dog. and well scared to let him off the lead now!

we where hoping to show him but hes been very stubborn and not sure if we have let him get away with too much! and thats why hes getting to be a naughty whippet!

am getting quite stressed about my little (big) whippet boy - hes so gentle to my children but to my cats and smaller dogs hes been a mennace! will he get better or worse with the chasing stuff. is there a light at the end of the tunnel.

sorry for mumbling on just v worried about my whippet and if hes gonna get worse. Hes my first whippet so am still learning !

Hi,

You are not alone!!! My 7month old whippet has turned into a demon. My little scottie cross gets no peace at all and he is forever tormenting my older lurcher. I can be sat watching tele and he zooms in the lounge, leaps on the settee, launching himself off by his back legs, then shoots out of the room again...its like watching a game of tennis. Both mine and my dogs heads are going from right to left and he zooms int and out of the lounge again and again. I should stop him really but its so comical!! He has also starting chewing and picking up anything thats available to him...grass, poo, dead animals, twigs, my necklaces, gloves, coats, trousers, paper!! I guess we just have to persevere!! Hang in there.

When my oldest whippet was around that age she was awful . She used to get my little miniature dachshund by the scruff of the neck and shake her !

She eventually stopped doing it but was really naughty till she was about 18 months

Nope you're not alone...my 16 month old whippet likes nothing more than a bit of Tibetan Spaniel coursing...

Sounds absolutely normal :D

Sox is 8 months old and has turned into my cats' public enemy number one (w00t)

Nothing stops her from persecuting them if she can get near them.

She and Irie (11 months) also think my neighbour's yorkshire terrier is good game as well

'tis OK if the terrier stays still but if she moves ....... WATCH OUT!!! (w00t)

I do hope they'll grow out of it

Jinny never chased anything other than bunnies  :D

Good luck with your boy  :luck: :luck:
