Just read in a dog magazine,a Neapolitan Mastiff gave birth to 20 puppies, sadly two died, but the surviving puppies are thriving, says their vet.The world record for a litter is held by a British Great Dane, which gave birth to 24 pups in 2005.The Canine Control Council said he was confident 20 was the largest Australian litter to date. She was impregnated via IVF because of a uterus infection. They will be when fully grown will weight up to 90kg.Nine of the pups are sold, the owners are keeping two.

Wow Dawn you know what a litters like

how would you like to look after that lot

AI for a bitch with a uterine infection??????????? Duh, some people must be so desperate, fancy doing that, it's not as though they are a popular breed. I hope people don't start doing that over here. Why would you mate or inseminate a bitch with a health problem??????????

That is a lot of responsible homes to find! A Neopolitan Mastiff is not the breed for everyone.

I used to meet one out walking - i thought it was the most grotesque beast i ever had seen. I used to cross the road when i saw it lumbering along with its jowls swinging, drooling with saliva and its big red baggy eyes. It was ugly, i couldn't bear to look at it.

Come on TTT dont hold back now , Tell it as it is   :p

Sounds more like your talking about an X :teehee: :-

I had a Neo a fantastic dog around my children very loyal and a brilliant temperament, I grant you not everybodys cup of tea but that could also be said about other breeds including are beloved whippet :- Don't get me wrong there are faults with this breed, one being the exaggerated roles of skin, cherry eyes and as with all big breeds the big killer bloat :( alot of it caused by man messing about with nature.

I boke my heart when I lost my old faithful friend, Tess and thought the breed needed someone in its corner :p

Firstly, Liverpoolmitch - the dog was not an x - the owner proudly informed me that it was a PEDIGREE KENNEL CLUB PRIZE WINNER surprise surprise!

Secondly, Sue Burton - It is so true that there is a dog out there for everyone - my choice would be neither a Neopolitan mastiff nor whippet.......

SPOT ON  Thats why I picked the Border still retain there working ability and still able to exhibit them, Poppy is 3/4 bred to last years best Border at Crufts Ch.Tythrop Tapos as I said we did a couple of shows alot of miles for sometimes only ten minutes in the ring  and to be honest Poppys at her happiest mooching in a hedge, I think another very important factor as with Whippets not many health problems on the hole both breeds are very versatile, Work/show race/course

What a gorgeous Border Terrier.  I have grown to really love this breed since I looked after a Border Terrier for a short while last year. He was adorable - so well behaved. He loved to sit on my lap for a cuddle, but was equally happy to go for a long run in the woods. The only time he was noisy was when he spotted squirrels in the garden.
