has anyone got any tips about a cure for nettle stings as i have 2 whippets that think they have to dig the carpets up when we get home from a walk.and running round like a couple of lunatics for about an hour someone must know!!

hellllllllllllp

dont know but people on here do

I'm not an expert or a vet, but if mine get stung by nettles (or bees or wasps!) I stick a piriton tablet down their throats - I was advised that by a vet

I don't use the one-a-day type, I use the old fashioned sort, which make you drowsey and can be taken every 4 hours in humans.

I've never needed to use more than one dose though, so if they are still itchey I wouldn't know when or what to dose to give them next

One thing, don't confuse PiritTON (chlorphenamine maleate) with PiritEZE (Cetirizine Dihydrochloride).

I'm sure I've done this by mistake myself :b and you don't want to take too many of the one a day Cetirizine ones by accident as overdosing on these can cause the heart to race

Suggested dosage of chlorphenamine maleate for dogs:

upto 10 lbs 1/2 (4mg) tab

10-20 lbs 1 tabs

20-30 lbs 2 tabs

30-50 lbs 2 1/2 tab

(w00t) oh dear, you narna! now you know why I said to make sure its the serveral times a day, not the one a day!

I know I'm a bit late replying, only just seen your post!! This happened to our Lenny last week when we were on holiday, he went beserk, stung on all 4 paws

As we had no access to any drugs or vinegar (which works well on humans) we bathed his paws in salt water. Well, we tried to anyway

He calmed down in a couple of ours so I'm guessing yours are ok by now :huggles:
