found this clinic today and found their prices very cheap? just wondered if anyone else had heard of these type places and why are they that much cheaper? is the animals safety and well being high on priority? vaccinations are very cheap too, can also do home visits?

if this is a good practice then well done for setting it up but have my doubts ? may pop over to see whats on offer there?

think for breeders with puppies to be vaccinated its a great idea to do the home visits , it would surely minimise the risk to unvaccinated puppies?

whats your views ? any experience of places like this ?

It does seem very cheap but if it is for real I commend them for providing the services at a reasonable rate.

Please let us know if you find out more.

This has been set up from an existing vets practice hasn't it? I can't see a problem with it all. Think its a good idea for the home visits, like you say to prevent the risk of infection of pups. Also to carry out minor things like claw clipping, this would be useful for people with small animals which get easily stressed by being taken out of their home

Just wanted to add that the prices seem reasonable but not overly cheap. My vaccinations only cost £25 for the initial ones a couple of years ago and the practice I go to seem to be at the top end of the scale price wise.

i hope they are for real so to speak? be nice to see places not ripping people off!! last vaccs we had done were £31 for the 1st vacc so £36 for the course would be excellent, i will def be having my litter done by them if alls well with them? i love the idea of home visits too, esp with the current spread of parvo i think its brilliant for pups not to have to leave the home til fully vaccinated, can only be good id would think? will have to go and visit and see whats what

Well i can think of a few dogs/bitches in that area that should be done,it just might cut down on the irresponsible puppy farming that goes on :- "

Yes I would go for a visit and see what you think. Have you heard any reports about what the original practice is like?

no i havent im afraid it was a link i saw whilst looking at another site? so then looked at the webpage ?

in the area i live in there is an offer on at the moment, they will vaccinate, frontline, worm, micro chip and spay/neuture all for free.

you do have to take them up on all the things unless your dog has already had his/her jabs,

they are trying to encorage sensible ownership wich from some of the staffy crosses you see wandering around theres alot of bad dog owners who just let out there dogs while on heat!

all you have to do is ring a number and then you pick your own vet to carry out the things and they pay.

hats off to the council for once on a good idea

what a great idea!!! yes i agree what a brillaint council! the lady next door looking into getting her large staffy boy done earlier this year and was quoted the cheapest at almost 200!!!!!!!!!!!!

ive always had the idea of why dont the newly qualified vets do it under close supervision, could make it much cheaper for those using the newbies?

showing this clinics details to dad as he is looking to spey both his girls and its almost half the price then at our regular vets  it cost me last year £180 to spey one of my girls

I think a lot of vets tend to have more competitive prices for the very common routine procedures (vaccs, neutering etc) as it is good business practice. The test is whether they use this as a kind of 'loss leader' and recoup profits via more expensive consultations fees and a hefty markup on medications in general.

I would not be solely put off a practice just because their prices are reasonable. There are still some vets around who have a strong belief that it's not ethical to overcharge for veterinary services. I know that's the case with my vet; they also do pdsa work and are vets to a greyhound rescue charity.

Yesterday I paid £50 for a double consultation for both of mine to have a full health check, wormer for both and Guto to have a full vaccination. I've checked their prices for things like antiBs, fucithalmic etc against internet prices in the past, and they only mark them up by a very small percentage unlike many of the other vets in this area. We don't go there because they are cheap, but rather because they have the best reputation and are a specialist greyhound/whippet practice.

As with any service, ask around and see what other people's experiences have been of their service, but if they are genuine in then I applaud them for providing a service of this kind.

Mmm sounds ok...............wonder if Tracey knows anything about it.

She's not too far away from there

Update

been over here today and i have to say im very pleased with what they offer in services!!

a small basic practice with the dogs interest at heart , i had one of my girls done today and rather then £140 as quoted by my reg practice , it was £20!!! (w00t)

most impressed and quality of service was 2nd to none!!!

only services they offer is vaccs , neutering and small stitch ups but very pleased

she is almost retired as a vet and wanted to make things affordable to the average person esp those on low incomes , what a lovely woman she is too :)

Mmm so your happy with this place.

I dont use the same vet as you here but it's handy to know

there is somewhere else to consider as well..........the price

difference is amazing. I may have to have a look out there myself

im considering getting Sada neutered but i just dont know what to

they also do things like antiiotics and season suppressers etc , what i like is all my pups can have 1st vaccs at home too for very little extra!!in fact its cheaper to pay extra and have them done in the home then to travel less miles and risk infection

they also offer a PTS at home service too for the area , a warming thought at the worst time you could think of :(

It sounds a very personal service which is nice :))

I have used a similar type of vets for some years now. They provide very cheap neutering and vaccinations, presumably to try and encourage the locals to look after their staffies. They employ younger vets who are enthusiastic and very competent and provide a very high standard of service. I think that they make their money by doing a high volume of consultations. When Fly needed several mammary lumps removing, they did an excellent job at a reasonble price. I rate this type of vet above the more traditional (and expensive) type.
