Hi my name is Wendy & I am new to the dog forum, I have an 8 year old Weimaraner who has just had surgery to remove his gall bladder due to it rupturing! Can anybody tell me what is the best low fat dried dog food currently on the market?

Thanks Joanne I will take a look, I live in Italy so need to find one I can buy over here

Welcome, Wendy:) I hope your Weim recovers well.

Thanks Judy, he still has a long way to go and we are getting there slowly :)

Welcome to the forum, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I have just quickly tried to find some low fat dry dog food /kibble, the best at the moment that I can find Grain Free of course is the "Millies Wolfheart" Forerunner 14%.

As a raw feeder I would suggest that you use a raw product, chicken, turkey, rabbit, venison, and of course some raw chicken /rabbit bones and offal/liver.
Raw Green Tripe 11.7% fat. very nutritious although smelly too, it contains many good enzymes and good bacteria, helping maintain a healthy gut.

Thank you for your suggestions and help, I am news to all this. Oskar was fine until 2 weeks ago, we didn’t think he would make it because when the gall bladder ruptured he developed peritonitis, he is so strong and brave and getting stronger by the day.

White fish is also quiet low in fats, but salmon types can be much higher.
