thanx for reply bertha....hopefully i would like her to race, but dont know alot ( newby)....HEIDI is her name black ,white marks,,,,,,,,,ive heard about FLAPPING , is this a good thing or bad ,,any advice will be duly noticed,,.thanx.. Photo7003.jpg

She's sweet! Flapping tracks not good, they don't care about their dogs and what happens to them when their racing days are over. Mind you a lot of greyhound owners are like that.I hope you will keep her, there are so many in rescues that have no homes.

Above all have fun with her, take her to Country Fairs where they have lure coursing, she'd love that. Keep an eye on here for dates when she is old enough.
thanx for the info ,,definetly keeping her ,actually got her from rescue kennel , mum was found wandering streets heavily pregnant, had pups in kennels..some nasty people out there !! had dogs before when i was younger but always loved greyhounds ,,you got any feeding and training tips please ,,been told to get her used to other dogs early ,so she wont be horrid to her peers, and get used to lots of different sights ,sounds ,and people..want to do my best for her as she hasnt had the best start in life !!!!...

If she came from a rescue she should have been rehomed under a contract that says she can't be used for racing or breeding.

mother could have been a greyhound but who says sire was a greyhound could just be a cross mate :(

Thanx for the input everyone ,,,firstly i signed an, Adoption form..the kennels are part of my local authority dog warden service. Nothing is mentioned about not racing , or breeding, ,,,,secondly ,,how would i know or find out if she is indeed a cross or full greyhound. Either way like i said earlier, ive always loved the breed (s) ,and she aint going anywhere but here..thanx alot everyone.

HE LOOKS BEAUTIFUL DONT RUN HIM HE.LL BE THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE GREYHOUNDS ARE JUST LIKE ANY OTHER PUPPY THEY CHEW AND PEE AND POO BUT WHEN THEY GET OLDER THE GOOD THING IS IF YOU DONT HAVE ALOT OF TIME FOR LONG WALKS THEY DONT CARE BECAUSE THEY DONT LIKE TO WALK ALOT -_- -_- -_- 30 MILES AN HOUR COUCH POTATOESGOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN WITH YOUR NEW BABY

Don't put this guy off, a greyhound pup has a good home, I am sure he will do right by her. Just needs a bit of advice.

I got my greyhound at 9 weeks, I reared her on Skinners Gundog Puppy, plus bones to chew and Spillers shapes. She is now coming up to 7 and a big girl.

Get her out and about to socialise her and get her used to meeting people. Don't let her run too much at first, I didn't let mine off the lead until she was 5 months old and then only short runs. She played in the garden with my whippets.

Take it slow and steady and she'll be fine.

Good luck.

I Know If You Get A Dog From The RGT You Cant Race Them Again Or Breed Them.

And All Dogs And Bitch's Have Been Spayed Or Neuted

I Dont Really No About Other Rescues But If It Doesnt Say Anything About Racing Or Breeding Then I Guess You Could Take Her Racing

But If Her Mother Was Found On The Street No Offence But She Proberly Wouldnt Be Any Good

But You Could Take Her Straight Racing Or Something Like That. :D

youve all been great ,,but ,is there anyone from the northeast area, with any advice for me ,,,maybe meet up and have a proper chat ,,i want to learn as much as possible from people who know whats what..cheers..

Hi Geordie - where you from ? I'm from north of Newcastle on the Northumberland border and have two lurchers. (Just wandering round this site to see if i recognise anybody). You may well find as your little girl grows up that she is in fact a lurcher - especially if you got her from a dog pound - in which case in the norh east there's a thriving lurcher scene. Racing as well as showing and a lot of good mates to be made in the process.

This is just outrageous !!!!!

Not all Flapping tracks are like this.

A lot of owners do find wonderful homes for there dogs.

You get good & bad in all walks of life.

So i think your talking rubbish when you say Flapping Tracks are bad.
