Last night Our Hero joined a new training class. It is a ringcraft class but there is a little general obedience to start with.

His Little Cleverness walked to heel beautifully (w00t) , did a perfect 'stay' across the entire length of the hall (w00t) (w00t) , did a perfect recall across the entire length of the hall (w00t) , having never done any of this before  and then preceeded to complete all his ringcraft without putting a toe wrong.

What happened to the disobedient, figity monster I took to Crufts?????? He has a club match next Tuesday and a show a week on Sunday so we've been practising :huggles:  o:)

(And, of course, someone took his photograph on their phone :teehee: :p  )

It must have taken a lot out of him as this is all he could muster this morning..

He looks exhausted!! Poor baby. He did really well though, the furthest I can get from Tiny (in the house) is three paces - I haven't a hope outside the house!!

Poor little man, he looks worn out :( He'll behave like a wee angel at his next show o:) :D

Ithink it was just pure excitement at being at crufts,he just couldnt contain himself (w00t) :huggles:

He looks completely worn out, poor little darling.

Well done Zoomie - good luck in the club match (w00t) - so much pressure being a handsome little iggy these days 8)

Leia is always zonked after her training class too. She can skateboard and 'weeeeeeeeeeeave' now. :D

That thought did cross my mind as well :D But wee angel Zoomie wouldn't be that devious would he.....?

Well I tried to set him up today for our daily 5minutes show practice and he was having none of it - he hopped from foot to foot and arched his back and said he was never ever going to stand still again :(

Sooooo ... who knows what goes on in the tiny Zoomster mind :teehee:  :huggles:

Aah well  His adoring audience wasn't there :D Maybe he willnow only [perform properly at shows 8)

Fiona, how are you trying to stack him ... each foot individually, or picking up the front and placing it down (two legs together) and then picking up the back legs individually and setting them down one at a time...?

Try placing one hand through his front assembly and one hand through his back end, the two middle fingers of each hand passing through to his chest and his :- " , and pick him up off the table and rock him gently back and forth a couple of times before placing him down all four square at once (doesn't matter if he's not perfect) saying 'stand' or 'show', whatever your usual command is.

This is what we sometimes do with wriggly whippet puppies who won't stand still. It disorientates them slightly and encourages them to stand still when their four feet hit the ground. If he does stand still, reward him very quickly, before he moves, with his favourite treat, cheese/chicken/whatever, and then keep doing this, making the time you wait to reward him a little longer each time.

It might work - or he might spring wildly out of your hands whilst you attempt to rock him. He is an adult now and does have a mind of his own (w00t) and you're right, who knows what goes on inside his little noggin

I place his front first with my fingers under his chest and controlling his elbows so that his legs are parallel and the right distance apart. (Hopefully)

Then I place his back end by lifting his hocks and placing them parallel and the right distance from his front legs.

Then I lift his chin and tell him to 'stand'. He's doing it very well now - just the odd wobble but if he's nervous he tends to arch his back and sink his head back into his neck. He now lets me re-postition his feet one at a time but I do this from the elbow or hock as I've yet to meet a dog that likes its feet being touched.

I've tried holding his back end like his front but we both find his :- " bits a bit twiddly and he always takes a step back when I do it this way. I'll give it another try and use the rocking thing tho'
