Poor old Ron. :( Hope that it isn't a bad tear and that the news from the vets is good. Well done on clearing Stan The Man.

Just arrived back from vets, it is a bad tear complete rest, no walking, about 6-8 weeks, rest him as much as poss :( but we are hoping for a 2nd opinion, we have been given a vet in Leicester to see next monday at 9am :( so fingers crossed

Thank you for asking everyone :(

Hi Colin & Tina

So sorry to hear about big ron i know how you must be feeling as when it happened to micky we were devastated, when micky went to the vets when he first did it back at the begining of oct we was told he would be out of racing for at least 6mnths and his tear was only a small one thankfully even though the bruising was awful, he was given nandorol once a day for a month to help with the healing process and kept on a lead at all times, we took him back for his check up last week and the vet was very pleased with how it was looking and we can now give him some short free runs off the lead and hes to go back in another month for a check up to see if he is ready to start racing again. its a long haul but worth the wait, it could take ron longer with it being a bad tear did the vet happen to say if it was the top end of the muscle that was torn or the bottom end ? as apparently its worse if its the top end, we saw a very good greyhound vet if you would like his details just pm me and i will send them to you, all the very best with rons recovery keep us informed on his progress..

Diane & Tom

sorry the news was not good for the lovely ron :huggles: lets hope the 2nd opinion is better tina will have everythink crossed mate speak to you soon :luck:

Thank you Diane, the tear is in the groin area which is up the top :( he said the bottom would'nt take long to heal if it was in that area, but we were unlucky its the top part of the leg, we now have a 2nd opinion to see someone on monday

Tell Ron to pop his feet up on the settee and chill out for another week. (That'll be soo hard for him to do ;) ) Hoping that he's much more comfortable today.

Sorry to hear of Rons injury tina, :huggles: Hope you get on alright on monday.

glad to hear Stan is cleared.

Will speak to you later.----------Ohhhhhhhh-Maaaaaaaaaaan :huggles:

Thank you to everyone that has e-mail us and all the phone calls about Big Ron, we are upset what has happened to him, :( :( and it makes us want to give up and pack in racing all together :( We have to be strong and think of the other Boys, and we will see what happens next week.

It gets you like that doesn't it :( ....My bitch dislocated 2 bones in her hock 18 months ago ....Our vet AND Greyhound vet thought that Connie would never be able to free run again (this is part of her daily life) let alone race .... Well Feb last year she was given the  to free run, hand slip etc .... By the end of last year she had nearly made top bitch at Cotswolds after 1/2 a club race season, she ran well at West Somerset open ..... Shes well fit and came off VERY broken yesterday after her first round :( .....Shes NEVER shown aggression to ANYONE, but Steve Bryant went over her yesterday (thanks Steve  ) and she was so sore that when Steve found 1 of her injuries, Connie screamed and bit him ...... I often wonder why we race, but when I see our car ripped to shreds, bedding and cages trashed ...our lot screaming as they want to sooo desperately run .....well that says it all :D ....I hope Rons OK soon :luck: :luck:

We know exactly what you mean Tina, :huggles: but you and Colin got us through so we"d like to do the same for you, :huggles: you know were only at the end of the phone, and who knows the vet on monday might have better news. :luck: to you all thinking of you and fingers crossed for Monday :huggles:

Thank You Paula and Hannah  it is sad seeing Ron like this, we love our boys and do anything for them, thats why we go to the end of the world for them (country I mean't) :huggles:

I hope we have some news on monday with him, the guy we are seeing is Richard Torr, and is mean't to be very good

it's times like thses that sort the real dog people from the flyby nights.

flyby nights do give up.?
