Hi,

We will be staying in Ambleside for two weeks in August however the apartment where we stay does not allow overnight dogs - they are OK to be around during the day.

This gives us a dilemma, as I for one will not be leaving Blue in August at home with grandparents for two whole weeks! We may do for a week, but not for two!

I therefore wonder if there are any kennels in that area that will take Blue just for the nights, she'll be shattered, and fed, so it will be literally a water bowl and a bed, and we plan to pick her up first thing each morning before setting off on the day's hike.

Does anyone have any recommendations before I start Googling?

Thanks in advance!

Simon.

Have you asked the apartment owners? They might know of places they can recommend.

Unfortunately, we own the apartment! I will ask the management company though - I didn't think of that!

Thanks.

It seems a rather strange rule. I can sort of understand a 'no dogs' rule, as I guess there are strange sad people in the world who don't want dog hairs and mud in their holiday homes :p but to allow dogs through the day and not at night seems slightly nuts.

Good luck finding somewhere, anyway. I hope you have a great holiday. :)

sell the apartment and get 1 thats dog freindly, problem solve (long term anyway) or get a caravan most sites welcome dogs.

I can recommend a caravan for hols with dogs. We go to Caravan Club CL Sites -small sites with usually only about 5 caravans allowed, and often very rural. We are off to Yorkshire and the Lake District soon and have booked 2 different sites. No problems booking in 3 dogs. :) :)

We'll sort it, I am sure.

Already have a caravan too! :)

Cheers

Have you got 3 dogs now Sarah...or are you just doing some forward planning? :- " :D

We stayed on a caravan club site in Scotland last year (in a tent  ). It was the most comfortable campsite I've ever stayed on. Facilities were second to none (clean, dry, separate wash cubicles, hairdryers). Best of all, lots of the caravanners had dogs, and it was lovely watching everyone walking their dogs in the morning, whilst sitting having breakfast (Fred and Stan stayed at home as we don't usually take them hillwalking in Scotland). Quite an eye opener from the usual wild campsites we end up on.

Sorry...can't help with the Ambleside predicament though. Good luck in finding a solution. :)
