We have just got back from Portsmouth Greyhound Stadium

after watching the open staged there by the NNWRF.

I have to say that it was very poorly supported, racers need to remember

that a Greyhound Stadium has to be paid for and it is by no means cheap

to hire it.

Credit must go to those few who did race there today, some travelled quite a few hours and must have been disappointed to have solo runs.

The NNWRF try to stage opens all across the country, but it still appears to be that the majority of racers are not prepared to travel.

so sad that this was not well supported. It was nice to see the the majority of the winners donating their winnings towards the cost of the track. Even people who had no dogs running made a donation and helped and cheer the dogs on. I hope harlow is supportive.

dont think they will come down becase highgate on you get a very good turn out there ;) ;) ;)

Just a thought but maybe its time to think about reducing the amount of opens, maybe one a month or so and then they may be better attended due to people not having to travel weekly for opens, also that would help club racing too....

So sad this was not better attended, the stadium made so much effort to welcome us, even printing out consolation and final programs, the facilities were all open for us to use, and they even did the tannoy for us!

sorry to hear you had a bad turn out, but this had to be xpected running the event at one end of the country,,..perhaps something more mid country would be much better attended, westhoughton...highgate, and askern are all good tracks...

Yeah they are all great tracks as is Portsmouth, but they take a good 4 hours for most of our southern racers to get to, would be nice to have a well attended open in the south for a change, as we support the ones up north!
