can anybody tell me the fees for members is it 12pounds or is it 28pounds with drug testing or are they not doing testing next year

unfortunately there will have to be an increase in membership fees due to increasing costs of trophies ect, in order that we can carry on and provide you with a decent trophy as well as prize money membership fees for 2009 will be:-

existing members - £12

new members - £15

registrations - £6 (no change)

transfers - £3 (no change)

hope this helps jeffb

Now I'm really confused. On page 17 in last whippet news it said "The cost for drug testing in 2009 will be £18 per member, plus £10 membership"

I make that £18 per member next year?

Sorry I mean £28 in the above post, not £18. Must be still hung over from Christmas

yes rocky but i heard from somewhere that they were waiting on the out come of the bwra ballot on drug testing and if it was voted out and with both organisations having the same members they might not be drug testing this year.it does,nt bother me if they do test i just wanted to know how much i owed at the start of the new season

New fees for 2009 are as Dee quoted.

existing members - £12

new members - £15

registrations - £6 (no change)

transfers - £3 (no change)

Drug testing may still take place, the extra money taken in off new memberships and money left over from the previous drug account can be used to persue tests.

It is thought that bigger fee's will only go to drive members away in this hard financial climate, so the question of drug testing on a more fixed and permanent basis will be dicussed as and when the financial climate improves.

Drug testing MAY take place ??????? Is that a yes or no ?

in my opinion drug testing should stay, i for one voted for it

I hope the NNWRF's view wasn't as black & white as the above rumour implies. The fact that BWRA members opposed drug testing had little to do with it's validity and a lot to do with costing. A.Pockett's proposal for random drug testing was supported by a majority and would of reduced the costing substantially.

I would hope that if the NNWRF are going to use BWRA ballot results in their decision making then they should be taking on board the possibility of random drug testing with the emphasis on it being random. Is the NNWRF planning on publishing an official statement clarifying the matter?

I'm sure many would favour drug testing providing it's carried out correctly and random. The fact there's been polls on here of late with 95% of members on K9 acknowledging drug enhancement as a concern. This speaks volumes about members' opinions without a persons' decision being swayed by other factors such as costing, which I personally feel was the case with the BWRA proposal.
