I know Whippets don't need to have black noses but I wondered if anyone has any ideas on supplements maybe to help blacken up Bluebells nose - She is Black (contry to her name) but her nose is not as black as it could be (bit brown ish)

Not that bothered but thought it may be a sign of a deficiancy in her diet.

She's 9 months old, in season at the moment and eats raw food, chicken wings, beef, chick, turk, lamb etc mince and mixer, + regular carrots...rabbit poo...sticks...rubbish...tissues...toilet roll...wallpaper... :- "

I gave Desmond (also black) Elderberry & Nettle extract supplement from Dorwest Herbs over the winter, that helped his pigmentation.

Seaweed powder is very good for getting back pigment.
Jenny

Elderberry, nettle and seaweed it is then - thanks folks

Will get some asap - will let you all know if it works for her

I don't mind what colour Bluebell's nose is ....... she is GORGEOUS    :huggles:

Do you have plastic bowls for food and/or water? I've heard that sometimes plastic bowls can cause some change of nose pigment, ceramic or steel would be better.

Yep, I agree with lots of the above  .......Elderberry & Nettle Extract, or seaweed powder added to the dogs food seems to help with those paler 'winter noses' :)) ...mine seem to prefer a little of the first additive !!

That is interesting. Plastic also releases chemicals mimicking hormones, which may be harmful. I stopped using plastic dishes ages ago. I like using the heavy ceramic inserts to electric crock pots as my dogs' water dish and glass baking dishes for feeding, as I can stick them in the microwave if needed. Some cheap glazed ceramics made in China have been known to have quite high contents of lead. I also use stainless steel.

There could be a lot of truth in that, I think Nicky's Tia got quite ill once and the only thing she had changed was her bowl for a plastic one

I like ceramic or steel ones :)
