In the early 70's my Aunt and Uncle Edith and Nev Butler had a dog called Judy Go and i wondered if anyone knew of this dog.It was 5 times champion at Measham near Ashby de la Zouch.I'm on a nostalgia kick and trying to find it's pedigree to see if any whippets are related to her and are racing now.

I know there's a reason why i have tons of old whippet news scattered all over the house!!!

Some people on here will remember her racing & i'm sure a few will recall her racing career with you.

Judygo (Good as Gold x Tinko) Racing Champion in 1976, 77, 78 & 79. In 1980 she won the Sidewinder Saunter which is raced at the championships for veterans who have won a championship title in their career - to get titles 5 years on the run is some bloody doing, she was obviously a fab bitch.

I would imagine there's not many dogs in the country that aren't related to her as her father was a famous stud who is in most pedigrees, she had a litter to Sing On on October 28th 1977 which she had to have a caesarean section = two pups, one of which died in the operation leaving a blue dog (anyone know what it raced as - if it did?), as of yet i haven't found out if she had any more litters, if i do i'll let you know.

Good as Gold (Golden Link x Cleo) Cleo was bred by my grandad

Tinko (Tinlegs x Stelko) Stelko was bred by Mick on this board out of (Bilko x Stella)

Was Judygo the one that was hand reared or maybe i'm getting mixed up with another dog?

Hope this helps a little - like i say i'm sure others will reply too!

I've got some pic's none of which are of very good quality but i will TRY and post them.

Thanks for that. We had a pup from a litter were she had one black.one blue and one fawn. The fawn was given to her younger son but he couldn't keep it so he let my dad have it.She was called cyd.The reason i was thinking about her was because cracker is alot like her in temperament.A bit of a character. She didn't race because she hurt herself whilst hunting rabbits. If she had a racing name I don't know of it.I may have to go home and catch up with my cousins to find out.The mother judy was a red bitch. This litter of three,I think were all born with a white collar around their necks and looked quite bonny.

Or is that a non-pedigree database? :D

I should run Vicky. I'm all for decimalising the day - each day now has 100 hours and there are 10 days to the week. That way I might get everything done.... ;)

So this bitch was a damn good racing dog but it wasn't a pedigree racing dog.So apart from the racing news how can you get to find out about their background.I just assumed with all the rosettes and things that seemed to fill this house it must have been a pedigree racing whippet. This dog got the best food and it's own space. The way my Aunt treated it, it was another member of the family (way up at the top.)

It was fed on steak and chicken not just any old dog food.Is this where we are going wrong? It didn't have bald legs either!!!! I think John would raise his eyebrows if I gave the dogs his steak.Worth a try though!!

No it wasn't pedigree, i'll dig out what i can & when John (who's now bloody abandoned us) next come's i'll give him some copies of the stuff i've got about her.

I'll tell you what why don't you give Barney Johns steak but have the camera ready then you can post the pic's on here!!!!

If your wondering about the sense of humour when my dad was asleep she would jump on his knee run up his chest aroud the top of the armchair and back down the otherside to wake him up.I hasten to add he wasn't too amused.Although he loved her to bits. He'd slip food to her under the table when mum wasn't looking.

So Syd was a pup of Judy's then? Any idea what the sire was? The markings are exactly the same as her mum's from the pictures i've seen - what i noticed most about Judygo is how much she looked like the non-ped whippets of today. She wasn't heavy but from the pictures doesn't look all that small.

Sue,

I've managed to get her back to 5 generations so far, give me a few days & i'll see if i can get any more of the pedigree then i'll send it to you.

Well, I have an idea about a data base for non-ped (you know what I mean) racing whippets. If you all want to email me any pedigrees you have, I will start a database and then get Nigel to make it available on the web. His original idea was for people to be able to submit pedigrees straight to a database on this site but he is just so busy that it might be quite a while before he gets round to it :D

Anyway with the email idea we can at least get the database started now. How about it. Email me with your pedigrees NOW. Just hit email at the bottom of this post.

I will copy this post to a new topic in non-ped racing too.
