id still report him nina.the next person he picks on might not be so lucky. :( we had a similar experience a while ago with a young couple in a car who wouldnt let us past ,they went from the fast lane to the slow one and back again every time we tried to pass, despite the fact there was no other traffic about at the time.gave us the v sign and everything,so we just stayed in the slow lane until we got to the lights.we were both very shaken as wed nearly crashed to avoid hitting them as they veered from lane to lane.they wound the window down and hurled abuse at us.our crime?driving a top of the range 4x4.we get a lot of hassle cos of the car. :( we never get any when were driving the van.glad youre safe, but please give the police the details you have.you might save someones life because of it.

Ok Kris, i will give them a bell. At least my passenger can describe the driver & we do know the make of the car for what its worth.

I'd hate it to happen to anyone else & have a feeling we will not be an isolated incident.

good girl! :D you know it makes sense! :huggles:

Just to let you know my passenger did ring them today as he had a full description of the driver to give where as i didnt.

Anyway he has given all the details of the car that we know & a full description of the driver.

They did ask if we had any witness's & we gave details of the red Mondeo in the middle lane who we know saw it all but didn't stop.

Got a ticking off for not reporting it immediately, which i now know was stupid but he explained that we did both go to peices a bit & were just trying to get the dogs in the back to safety.

We told them the junctions that it happened between & they said they will do all they can to look into it & also see if there were any other reports on that day but without witness's it is a little hard as no real proof.

We did ask about cctv but apparently it is doubtful on that stretch of the road & even if he was clocked further down the motorway on a camera we still have no proof of what had occured.

Hopefully it will never happen again BUT if it does i will have the sense to report it straight away.

Another thought (which of course only occurred to me hours after you posted this) would be that if your passenger had a camera phone, they could take a pic of the licence place while you are controlling the car. That way you wouldn't have to remember the licence number - also they could photo license plates of witnesses as well....

I know that now that I've thought of that I'll be more likely to do something like that in future if I'm able.

Glad it's been reported. People like that are absolute idiots. It won't be the first, or last time he's driven like that and it needs stopping

Glad you're okay though :)

Good idea & one i will think of in the future but when he hared ahead of us & suddenly hit his brakes we just were'nt expecting it then when he was side to side with us obviously it would not have been possible but after when he shot off if we had been thinking & been real quick perhaps we could have caught it.

Could shoot yourself after for not being on the ball but at the time i think you are sooo shocked your mind blanks :(

Oh absolutely - I hope you didn't take my comment as saying you should have though of it - those kinds of thoughts always come after. When you're in the middle of it all you just instinctively do what you can to protect yourself.

Had a jerk a couple of weeks back do similar, but not quite to the same extent - just more a pain rather than the dangerous stuff that your guy did. Even then I didn't think of it, and only did today after reading your post yesterday.

Hopefully none of us ever has to deal with people like this again, but if we do let's hope we have an on the ball passenger :D

Glad you're ok.

No not at all

But you do feel angry with yourself afterwards when you calm down & then think of all the things you SHOULD have done :(

One thing is i WILL be wiser in future although i hope i NEVER meet a lunatic like that again

Well Done for reporting it, it's just not right that people can play with other people's lives in this way. Why can't you just go about your day to day business without having to cope with people like this. I'm just so glad you weren't hurt.

Thank you for your concern. :huggles:

The thing is i guess we all get a bit irate at times with people if we are cut up or encounter a discourteous driver & you may feel compelled to toot them or mutter under your breath BUT to risk their lives, yours & other people's is a different matter.

Especially in the fast lane of a motorway!

I think it takes someone pretty off the wall to do what this guy did & put his own life plus ours & surrounding cars at such risk.

Funny thing is its hit me more now after the event than it did at the time, guess cos you go into like an Auto mode & all you are thinking of is i have got to get my girls to safety.

Stupid i know, but i keep giving the girls an extra hug that they are safe & am not looking forward to the next motorway trip. I've been driving 24 years & NEVER encountered anyone like this chap & hope i dont EVER again. :(
