Hi everyone -

My girls been off her breakfast and vomiting yellow bile in the middle of the night/early mornings for a week. She’ll accept a snack at lunchtime and eat her dinner. I’ve been giving her some fruit before bed but it’s not doing anything for her. Just wondering if anyone’s got any ideas on how I can encourage her to eat?

The week before she had a little puking/pooping session that was quickly sorted out with a plain diet for a couple days. She was being funny then as well about food and has been on the grass a lot. Not like her to be off her food, a couple months ago she couldn’t get enough.

First advice is a vet check. Yellow bile vomit is usually from an empty tummy, what exactly is her meal routine - foods and times?

She’s on Arden Grange, 120g dry + 70g wet, she has this twice a day at 8:30 & 18:00. I usually give her a lunchtime snack around 13:00 anyway, normally veg/fruit.

I agree you need to see a vet to make sure she hasn't got an ongoing bug.

If there is no problem I would give her a few pieces of kibble before bed to stop her tummy getting empty

Just to be clear, is that 240g dry and 140 wet per day? What is her weight?

This is usually due to an empty tummy and I don't think the fruit will be helping. Try giving her a few small dog biscuits or a handful of kibble right at bedtime so her tummy has something solid to work on through the night. This is a fairly common problem and usually solved by a bedtime snack.

Yeah, @JoanneF, she weighed 20kg at last check. I rang the vets and she’s booked in for a check Monday morning, earliest I could get. She’s had her breakfast today. I will try the dog biscuits before bed tonight.
