I am getting desperate here. Another cat encounter yesterday, i wont go into detail on here but i cannot stand this much longer.

Its upsetting for me and is getting to the stage where i dont want to walk the dogs any more.

I try to find places with no livestock away from houses to free run the dogs but it seems cats are everywhere. If the 3 dogs are off the lead and a cat is in the hedge or the field or the woods i cannot stop them chasing.

They do hunt rabbits and squirrels as they are also everywhere round here so are all keen.

I have now decided i have no choice but to muzzle them when off the lead but am concerned over the safety of this.

Will they get caught by the muzzle when running?

Which type is safest?

Please help, any advise appreciated

And by the way i actually like cats. Jan

Oh dear Jan . Naughty whippies (w00t) Id try and get the racing muzzles that the people who stand at our shows have , plastic ones they are , ( sorry dont know their name Im sure some one on here will help ;) Is it Sue and Terry  you might be able to get them on Saturday at Stafford . Ive one you can borrow till I can get another if you like :huggles: .

I m lucky in that we never :luck: see pussy cats when out :luck: as Im sure mine would chase , even though they have all lived with cats all their lives . :huggles:

Agree with Jax, get a racing plastic one. They do come in differant sizes so it would be best to try one on. Diva goes out wearing one because she would like nothing better than to kill all the local cats !! She has never had any trouble getting caught up in anything and cannot get it off as easily as she can the basketville ones.

Hi,

I have just ordered 2 whippet muzzels from WWW.jansgifts.co.uk. They were £5.00 each plus P&P, if you ordered them before 2.30pm, they go out on that day. I ordered them yesterday and they have arrived today. I hope this is of help to you.

Jenny

Yes I got one from Jans gifts and it came very soon - even before the money had been taken out of my bank account :)

Thanks everyone, Have ordered and got muzzles from Jansgifts wow quick or what.

Walked dogs in them today, needless to say they were most unimpressed!!!!!!

Still they had sort of stopped trying to get them off after a while and if it stops me having to increase my Valium dose ill be happy.

Feel most sorry for Benson as his favourite thing is eating rabbit poo so he will have to learn to hoover it up (w00t)

Will post piccies as they look like Hannibal Lecter!!!!! (w00t) Jan

sorry to hear of your troubles, but even sorrier to say that this post just made me laugh so much - a Hannibal Hoover Hound (w00t)

:D Hi,

Yes we took ours out last night, we put their muzzles on and watched to see what would happen. Lucy did a wonderful somersault in her attent to get it off, both hubby and I laughed  . But it was wonderful to watch them run around and not worry about anything. They soon forgot they had them on as they hunted with mum. They were worth every penny, in fact I am ordering 2 more so that both cars have them in. My hubby said the same, they do look like whippet Hannibal Lecter.

;) Jenny
