just let the officials get on with it
Well said Deb to many people want to turn up and race but don't want to help. We at Dawdon always do the draws in the hut were anyone can see it done. Most of the time asking people to pick No's if more than one dog seeded. It works but can be a bit hard at times with people talking but you just get on with it. At the end of the day if people complain enough then there will be no one willing to run the opens. Just let the people running the open get on with it stop complaining at how things are done and enjoy racing.

Well said Debs, you dont change something that isnt broke. If you dont trust the people that do the draw, then dont run you dog.

Found the same topic feb 08 apart from it was a poll lol

and guess who started it .... :D

yes thats right denise, and 70% of people were in favour of it.

no body is calling anybody a cheat, but when the draw is done it erases any peoples doubts.

I am sure its very flustrating for some owners who have dogs that need inside or wide seedings Morris, but the Champs is always a very busy day for any committee ...

Looking forward to watching the rumble in the jungle as Mac would say :D a few years ago

MAYBE IM WRONG BUT SURELY ASKING FOR A OPEN DRAW IS LIKE SAYING THAT YOU DONT TRUST THE PEOPLE THAT ARE DOING THE DRAW ......YIP

NEXT YOUR BE ASKING FOR THE WEIGHING SCALES TO BE FILMED SO PEOPLE CAN WATCH IT ON CAMARA LOL

Gary iv been round this non ped whippet racing a long time and its the first time i can honestly say in all these years I TRUST knw 1 at all now and that is such a bad thing in a sport iv done for so many years

a couple members in the draw different ones each time makes sence. there should be more trust in people willing to give up there time to run opens run about the country etc but lately dont know why anyone really bothers but i bet theres more gratefull members than ungratefull ones apart from george off course

george you dont even trust ya self and i know your a sad sak  unless your out rattin :D

geoff and hazel asked me to do the draw at highgate i was also present at the draw on sunday and they both where done perfect straight and honest. when yous say open draw the people that were involved in the race where invited to be present at the draw not the full track. But i have to agree what was said on sunday we need to trust the people that are running the opens and let them get on with there jobs, if you get a bad draw tough shit what goes around comes around you will get your right draw eventualy so lets get on with enjoying our racing and trust the people on the day great day on sunday [mind think there was a bit of fiddling going on in that terrier race that hand slip was a bit dubious] :p :p :p

'Trust' 8) ........Yes and not just when it suits......This word comes in again or should when trusting committees/officials on new rulings e.g BWRA-and not moaning and asking them to be changed/overturned when it doesn't suit........

People should trust the people running opens, unfortunatley as has been proved many times, it's not the case. Just because you do all the legwork doesn't exactly make you trustworthy, i'd much rather prove things are being done correctly when possible than just expect people to believe you, the North West Committee feel capable of doing an open draw within the given timescale so that's why we do it. I accept at other events it would be harder to carry out & this is why those committees allow a few people to watch the races being drawn.

How many times have people gone to the officials quoting rules and incorrect ones at that? Is this not a form of untrust in the organisers?

I don't think it should be taken as a personal criticism, just that people like to see things are done fairly.

this only seems 2 matter on the bends or is it just me? i mean dogs have sides on the straights but i dont think ive ever heard anyone ask for an open draw on the straights. i do however think it is a good idea that maybe 2 people from different regions cud attend the draw. i know when we do it @ the rising sun the pub allow us to have the back room but thats only 4 a few of us so we wudnt b able to do a full open draw but im sure 2 people not from the north east cud b invited in.

Bang on Vicky

I've asked to be seeded 3 times this season inside I've never got it .

Plus its not been even marked on the card . When I asked an official

About this they said well mark it if dog goes through next round .

They never mentioned I could of asked for a re draw ! Once maybe

But 3 times , I think that breeds mistrust

'Luck of the draw' or 'not' there has and always will be the people that query the draw, whether it be 4 or 5 of the best dogs drawing in a race together or whether it be 1 good dog in a race of average dogs either way some one will percieve it as being fixed either to knock out 3 of the best in the heat or to give a dog an easy heat!!!!! Inside/outside runners, left/right runners again in theory i agree with seeding but again I do believe there are quite a few people who seed for the sake of not getting a middle trap or those on bends who think if on the rail at certain tracks have more chance, therefore even though we are trying to make it better racing sometimes it has the adverse effect.

My personal opinion therefore is that seeding may actually not make racing any better than it was before it was introduced, when we ran where ever we were drawn and there was non of this feeling that maybe certain people were getting their chosen side more times than Mr X or people querying if a dog has been seeded correctly or should have been at all.

Open draws are fine if and when they can be accommodated, but as said some clubs just dont have the facilities for everyone to be present and again when you are trying to get programmes out as quickly as possible interruptions and distractions can be off putting.

To anyone who who is an organisor keep up the good work, cos i know alot of people who criticise the systems would be in hot water if they were asked to do the work either in an open draw situation or locked in a quiet room on their own  I'm sure (no im not, i think) that most people are appreciative of the workers who enable us to do the hobby we love, well i am, i know the stress when only doing club opens let alone champs, derby's etc. the organisors want everything to run smooth on these days :D if only we could please everyone

Sorry so long, off work i must be missing typing them letters!!!

any NNWRF member who wants to be present at the draw on Sunday is as at all NNWRF events more than welcome we only ask that you are quiet and don't cause any distractions by talking etc

You can hardly criticise folk for asking to see fair play in light of what has happened through trusting people over the past year can you???

Steve

I think some people are jumping to the wrong conclusions ... if i remember rightly so last year at the bend champs there was a couple of regional reps present at the draw ..maybe if the only seeding on the bends was wide runners then it would save on all this S++T
