The NPWRA website has been updated to include a provisional racing calendar for next year. The facility is there for all clubs to add the Open dates they would like (or think they would like) for 2010.

I know a few clubs need to get their Opens and grounds booked quite early - so this will give them the opportunity to make their arrangements now. This is only a provisional calendar but it will give the clubs the opportunity to work together to sort their calendar out early for next year. There are bound to be clashes but at least each club will be able to see the clashes & other clubs Open dates as well as the Championships and so work around any problems.

Please look here & book your clubs provisional dates now. I don't see any problem with booking a few more suitable dates than you may need - that will help clubs to resolve any clashes more easily.

The NPWRA 2010 Championship dates have been added.

May I ask a question?

Before the NPWRA was formed ie; in the days before we were forced to make decisions about racing with dogs of dubious pedigree, clubs were affiliated to and had to book open dates through the WCRA. Will clubs be dual booking and will there be the possibility of a collective point scoring system for NPWRA events hence this system? I suppose what I am saying is that are we expecting to move forward with member and club affiliation to the NPWRA. Sounds like a good idea to me, but I may be way off the mark ;)

The NPWRA are intending to introduce a points system which will be in place by the beginning of next years racing season. We haven't yet decided the exact structure but, it will be slightly different to whippet news top ten. We have some ideas but, if members have any suggestions which would be an improvement over previous points leagues, then of course these will be gratefully received and considered.

Thanks , there was so much positivity about the new association today and many new an inventive ideas floating around. I loved the new passport covers that Judy had designed. Really nice to have a poll about the next nationals too.

The NPWRA have put this booking system in place for Whippet Opens next year - regardless of whether they are running for the Nationals league & the NPWRA or any other league or oraganisation. For the past few years some clubs have found it very difficult to work with the system that was in place - a lot run on public venues & they need to book grounds now. I'd hope that some clubs will run for the Nationals League & ask for NPWRA passports, but I'm sure some won't. A lot of opens will be run for more than one league - Nationals League, Whippet News Top Ten & possibly even SuperStars. These opens need to be booked via a central calendar to avoid clashes - that's why we've put together this provisional booking system.

This will give everyone an opportunity to run Opens when they want to under whatever organisation they want to. There will be clashes but I'm sure the clubs are quite capable of working out these clashes for themselves.
