As someone has rightly said things are very quiet and boring at the minute so here's a topic that should spice things up a bit...or maybe not.

During recent conversations with various lurcher, people performance enhancing drugs/supplements have come up during the course of the conversation on a number occassions, usually along the lines that someone said to me that such and such a person has been known to give their racing lurchers drugs to boost their performance etc etc. Usually the accussations are made in the direction of those who's dogs have been very successful in the lurcher racing scene for a number of years etc.

Anyhow i have always maintained that i believe that these type of accussations are generally born out of the green eyed monster mentality that seems to live within most of us and that as far as i'm aware there is no ruling within lurcher clubs to prohibit the use of performance enhancing drugs, so if an individual or individuals have used drugs they havn't broken any rules...if you get my meaning. Is it a case within the lurcher scene that it depends on the dog owners morals as to whether they use drugs or not.

you could try blacktar i used it on one of ours last year and she seemed to improve a little...

people who use any stuff like this shouldnt be in the game at all !! ive had fone calls all pointing fingers at various people through the years who have used different things. .. :- " sorry with my dogs what you see is what you get....

NO TO DRUGS.

GOOD FOOD AND EXERCISE IS ALL MY DOGS NEED.

Blacktar is not a drug

Its A SUPPLEMENT

theres lots of supplements out there that help dogs reach the goals faster and are good for them

But wouldn't dream of drugging a dog to gain achievement ...they either got it or they haven't

The only supplement any dog may need is an oil capsule, ANYTHING else is wrong

wether my dogs get beaten in a race or win in a race, I can say that it won or lossed naturally and thats the only way for me. If your pumping your dogs with stuff then you are taking away any credit from the dog and yourselves!

Most people will admit that it is wrong but if anyone has used a performance enhancing drug they havn't broken any rule so as far as lurcher racing is concerned technically they havn't done anything wrong meaning it all comes down to ones opinion or i am waffling as per usual. During a recent conversation with another lurcher enthusiast who was concerned about others giving their dogs substances i said that if they start thinking suspicious of others that it was time to get out of the game.

haave to disagree this time mate, if somebody has to use that stuff i think they need to get outve the game .

ofcourse thats just my humble opinion

I dont think anyone if they did would ever ever admit it, but its them who have to live with their false "winners or runners up" in the knowledge it didnt win because it was any good but because it had illegal rocket fuel stuck up its ass! (w00t) (w00t) (w00t)

Your humble opinion is always well respected.

Right here is a scenario. There are some dog supplements, not illegal drugs, with additives which can be bought which can be added to food which are supposed to improve dogs performances, one of these supplements contains caffeine. For talk sake say the supplment contains 150mg of caffeine which is supposed to be added to the dogs meal etc etc. Now what is the difference from someone who uses this supplement from someone who gives their dog a 150mg caffeine tablet half an hour before it's due to race.

(w00t) (w00t) (w00t) but it's not illegal because there is no such ruling unless it was an illegal drug like speed  or something similar

is purpose breeding lurchers to the point they are almost greyhounds not a form of enhancement all be it genetic enhancement. just as a matter of interest what is the fractional breakdown of breeds the the big winners at the lurcher racing. like my dogs are about half greyhound and then repsectfully bull terrier for bouncer and my best guess for lady a bit of collie maybe terrier possibly deerhound. what is the fractional or percentage makeup of the racing dogs.
