I have just picked up a copy of Exchange and Mart. I always check out the pets section. I was appalled to see a company called petsville international which advertises several breeds including Whippets in their list of dogs available.

It is London based and has a web site under construction. Please god no one is supplying them with Whippets

Does anyone know anything about these people?

I will watch the web site with interest. Jan

They have a website www.petsville.com. They appear to be an advertiser for rescue and adoption organizations. What's best, if you search for "whippet" there are none!!!

Check out petsvilleinternational.co.uk this is their website.I think you will find that the one you went to is US based and is a .com and is linked to rescue.

The advert I am referring to has a total of 26 breeds advertised. It includes delivery, world wide export, Visa/Access, 7 days, and is trade.

This is the first time that I have across Whippets included in this type of advert.

Perhaps I am overly concerned that if they advertise Whippets they will actually be able to supply Whippets. The question is where will they get them from?

In response to the post about Petsville International - DONT SHOP THERE! I went in to the branch in Kingston a few years back and was shocked by the smell more than anything. They were cleaning out the miniscule puppy pens and by the looks of it it was a bi-yearly job. The store itself has a wide range of supplies but i dont believe they should be allowed to stock livng things anymore. My first instinct was 'I have to save at least one!' but rightly my friend made the observation that everyone must think that hence them still being in business. Sorry pups but I'm not buying you for the sake of future pups in every Petsville branch!

They were also featured on the watchdog type programme re puppy farming

if they are advertising pedigree whippets then get the affix?

is there no way people couldnt fnd out where they are bred and whom by ??? :(

just rang they have no whippets at min , and unknown when they will get any

type in petsville international and you will get the number

there are alternative pet dog registries that breeders can use rather than registering with the kennel club and I'm afraid that many of the Petville stock would be "registered" by a less accountable organisation -- I also remember seeing something about this on tv
