How can a cafe run out of baked beans?

Just ordered a veggie breakfast … asking to replace the egg with baked beans.

They’ve run out of baked beans 🙁

Baked beans make a breakfast imo.

Plus, there’s a little village store maybe 100 feet away … go and buy some beans maybe?

Never mind .. I’ll have extra mushrooms 😜
I see you are eating healthily again :D

What annoys me? Inconsiderate behaviour and the destruction of the English language - i.e. “I was sat…..” as opposed to “I was seated” or “…was sitting”. “Sat” is not a participle. Ric Stein’s pronouncing paella as pi - el - a.
Mind you, the ginger comb over (who’s he kidding) in the White House is an unfortunate distraction. Too political? Mea culpa.
Rant over, I’ll have my Horlicks.

I didn't think paella was from the English language!!
Nor Mea culpa. come to that

We aren't all eloquent in the English language despite being English. Schooling and home life has a huge influence on that
With due respect, Rona, I didn’t say that that mispronunciation of paella was indicative of destruction of the English language. There was a full stop ’twixt
sentences. Hence “Mea culpa”. Si quieres charlar en otros idiomas podemos hacerlo.

My point exactly ;)😅

Not nice 🙁

Take a little nap this afternoon ☺️
I'm hand stripping all the paint off my garden benches to repaint, it is a back breaking, should aching job! I thought I would sleep like a log but no.

Back to the grindstone, no naps for me today. I am a woman on a mission

I can remember years ago that there was a paste (not as toxic as Nitromors) which I used to strip paint and varnish from a violin. It was water soluble so I was able to use a wet scrubbing brush to clean the dried paste from the instrument. This included the scroll which was somewhat intricate. I can’t remember the name unfortunately but, if one can still buy Nitromors, I’m sure that a hardware retailer could help. Best of luck - it’s rewarding once completed.

The fact that my mum always refers to satsumas as small oranges. And even more so the fact that now we have satsumas, tangerines, clementines, nardicotts, mandarins, and goodness knows what else, and that my 3-year-old granddaughter also refers to them as oranges and can hardly be expected to specify exactly what variety of small orange she would like, I think I might just have to start calling them small oranges myself. Even if they're not small oranges.

What point?
I'm not trying to cause an argument. I know you didn't know the lady but it just seems a little ironic that the lady that original penned this thread,(on the place which must not be named):) did so because of her dyslexia. She was having difficulty reading some posts and making her own were fraught with trouble, as some would pick on her for her weird spelling and composition.
It got even worse when she later had a stroke. However the community knew her history and just worked around it to not make her feel uncomfortable

Oh but they all taste so different

I wasn’t aware of the background, Rona. Afraid I’m not conversant with things from ‘Mordor’. My addition to the thread was merely pertaining to ‘Petty things that annoy me’ in a similar vein to JudyN’s dissertation on oranges.

My petty annoyance (and I do realise that it is very petty) is when people refer to having 'rescued' their dog from ..................... a bona fide dog rescue charity! Why do they say this? They have 'rehomed' the dog, or 'adopted' it, not rescued it.

Quite right. We rehomed our whippet. Her previous home had done their best for her but, with the benefit of hindsight, it wasn’t enough. Her first home, going by the veterinary’s report from her second home, was dire.

Thank you, Dozyrozey. Give yourself a pat on your back.
