Hello,

a few days ago I found this article:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19228357

There is rare information about the disease and about the disease in the whippet (pedigree, non-Pedigree, registered, longhaired ???) available. I could not find anything else than the fact, that the genetic defect was found in the whippet.

Can anybody help me?

Regards,

Monika

To my knowledge, these 2 littermates are the only whippets ever to have the abnormality. We have a non ped with myostatin muscle related hypertrophy and dropped onto the article whilst researching causes of cramp as I suspected hyperkalemia.

Both males were castrated so would hope no further incidence within the breed.

Hi,

thanks for your reply!

Yes, I hope this too. But we can not know exactly without their parents or other silblings testesd too. So I am still interested in which kind of whippets the two littermates are.

Regards,

Monika
