We had our FREE :- " photo shoot today. Off we all went to the posh end of the county. Wilmslow is where a lot of football stars live & the charity shops have designer clothes.

It didn't start too well as we couldn't find anywhere to park & eventually I had to leap out of the van & run into the studio to let them know we were on our way. So after a bit of musical cars in their staff carpark we finally got there. There was a patch of grass over the road so we took the dogs on there for a wee before going in. So of course, because of the traffic, Scrumpy was a shivering wreck straight away. :(

Once we got in though she was fine & the staff were really nice to the dogs, lots of cuddles.

We let the dogs off leads to get used to the studio & they all ran about sniffing . Rafferty managed to crawl under a chair & discovered a plastic ball which must have been left by someone else. It is now a squashed plastic ball  So we took it off him & carried on talking & he only went & found another one from somewhere. So we took it off him again & he grabbed hold of the rubber wedge that was propping the door open & ran around flinging it in the air.

What an attention seeker :clown:

It was a really relaxed session & the dogs behaved themselves once they had calmed down & got used to it.

The photographer was great & took loads of pics , some posed with all 3 dogs either lying down or sitting together. Then he took some action shots, Scrumpy jumping up & Hebe doing a bow & Rafferty twirling round.

Then he took his life in his hands & lay flat on the floor & had them all running towards him (w00t)

I'm going back next Monday to see the best images & then I have to choose which one I want. I get a free £60 print (the cheapest they do) and will probably end up getting another 1 at least. :- " :- "

It was quite a good experience & not something I would have done without the lure of a freebie.

sounds like you had a great day

buy an extra lottery ticket on saturday then you may not have to choose you could have the lot :D

lol sounds like great fun!cant wait to see the pics

There's no way you'll be able to resist buying more prints as it sounds like the photographer took loads and loads of good ones. :teehee: Will you be allowed to post any on K9? We'd love to see some .

I've got a lovely one of Stan taken by a local photo studio...i'll have to see if I can scan it. :- "

I've sort of calculated that I will be able to get 3 prints. I get a free one as part of the prize & the cheapest they do is £60. As me & Neil didn't get each other any Christmas prezzies this year I reckon 2 more prints at £60 each should just about cover Christmas :- "

I was going to put them on here to show you but is there any reason why I won't be allowed to? Copyrite maybe. I hadn't thought there would be a problem, once I've paid for them surely they are mine to show off

Hope so cos you'll all have to come round here to see them otherwise. Best get some biscuits in just in case

Copyright is a bit of a pain - often the photographer will 'sign' the prints you get and any proofs (ones you get to choose from) will be scored through so that they're spoiled and not easy to copy or display. That way if you do scan the ones you keep and print or display them online, the signature will be visable - it's usually their name and the copyright sign.. the little c in a circle. That's what the professional phtographers from the dog-newspapers do.

I've had another photographer just ask me not to use his photos for any other purpose without giving him credit which is fair enough so I print his name alongside.

But with my work (I'm a painter) when I sell a painting I only sell the paint and canvas object itself and not the copyright to the design. This means I am the only person who is legally allowed to make copies of my work and if anyone else tries to make prints to sell from a painting of mine they are breaking the law (and I will sue because it could amount to theft of a lot of money). It's a complicated one to get your head round but if you think of it like buying a book in a shop - you only buy the book, the ink and paper, you don't buy the right to own the story.

I had this photo taken of Zoomie and Lottie at Crufts this year and was given the okay to scan/use it because the photographers credits are highly visable

I think in your case the polite thing to do (if they don't say) is to scan the photo but also put in your post who the photographer was so they get the credit

Hope this helps - looking forward to seeing the pics :)

i got photos done and took photos of them on my phone so i could send to all my friends and family nothing was said in the stuudio about copy right but i know that costco and boots question photos the look proffetional as they refusse to copy them if it wasnt you who took them. on the other hand if you do it your self on your own computer for your own use how will the studio know????? :- " :- "

its a personal opinion. i feel i paid for it so if i want to put it on my pc or do another for another room then its my photo so i can do that, but if i was to copy it and give them out to people thats where i think it jurns into copyright as they should all pay for that privallage to.

im probabily completely wrong as this is all just my opinion and iv never looked it up.

good luck, hope we do get to see them

That's a beautiful photo of Zoomie & Lottie & yes I can just about spot the photographers credits ...discreet eh?

I will probably ask the people if it's ok to show them off & obviously I'll put on their name so its a bit of free advertising for them too really.

I wouldn't mind but copyright works both ways, technically the photographer should have a model disclaimer, especially if they're using those photos for their own self-promotion. This includes dogs, houses etc

I encountered one owner of a racer who requested me not to post or publish photos of their dog, as a result I had to either keep the dog out of shot or 'photoshop' it out of images.

DC Mag did a very detailed report on this in their Jan issue this year.

How complicated  So what I'll do is post a lovely picture of my front room wallpaper.......and there may just be a couple of doggy photos in the same shot :- "
