Help.......

As most of you will know there is a new resizer on Photobucket.

For us all that use it regularly ...is this a permanent feature...or is it just on K9 board...the photos now seem very different

and not as good quality at all...

Have you all experienced the photos now with a black rim around them and in the left hand corner

it tells you how much the photo has been reduced by.

Nicola what setting did you use to put those pictures on today...they seem about the size Id like mine to appear

but to no avail.

Anyone else any tips on this new feature...

Unfortunately I cannot answer your question - I would also like to know the answer. There is another aspect to this that I have come across. I have two computers - one is a PC with a 17" screen. This shows many of the photos with the reduction (although you do have the facility to click on them to get the full resolution - I assume you can also do this?). Nicola's - as you say - are shown perfectly in full resolution. However, I am also fortunate to have an Imac computer with a 24" screen. This shows ALL of the photos perfectly on full resolution. No - I don't know why?

Hi Janis,

The resizer is a new feature on K9. It's awful isn't it, it renders the photos as rather poor quality. You can click on the black band to bring up the actual size of the original photo, but I don't like having to do this for every photo.

I've just checked photobucket and I resize my photos to 640x480. These can be copied and pasted to K9, and are within the new size allowance on k9, so they won't get reduced in size. I think anything larger will get reduced. The next size up on Photobucket is 800 x 600. I think a lot of members use that size on photobucket, but I'm sure this is too large for downloading to k9 now. The reason is that anything larger than this breaks the page margins.

Hope this all makes sense. It certainly spoils my enjoyment of K9, but the key is to resize your photos on Photobucket to the 640 x 480 (large) size.

I have a 17" screen btw.

Yes Nicola, understand that perfectly...

you are right it is a pain...I think TWF is exactly the same but it seems more prominent on K9

for some reason and Ive noticed it more.

So are you saying you copied and pasted every single one of your photos back onto your PC then K9

or directly onto K9 then??

I hate clicking on every single picture too.. I have a 17" screen laptop...so I just assumed this size would be ok

so have tried making them smaller...or thought I had.

The other qeustion is...on my thread some photos have the black rim and others dont and I thought Id resized them all the same.

strange...

I use Photobucket as my resizer of photos because it does it better than my current old software. So I download my full size photos from my PC onto photobucket at size 640x480, and then copy and paste them directly onto K9.

I'm not sure if this is the best way, but it works I guess. I've always chosen the smaller size anyway, because I only have a 17" screen and like to see some space around the photo, to act as a frame.

I think TWF's allowance is greater as you can still post larger size photos (than K9's) there and not have them resized. Nigel has been a bit less generous with photo sizes since the upgrade I feel. :-

I see, so it really depends on the forum that you use too.. on the final picture sizing...

I usually upload the full size picture to photobucket too...then resize...but seems I will have

to make them even smaller....some of them not just my own look of really poor quality now.

I have Microsoft photo editor on the laptop...I may try cropping and resizing before I upload

to see if this makes any difference.. thanks for all the advice.
