Photography

 I should be soooooo blonde (w00t) I really loved the piccy's.

Yup, Lana, saw the cushion effect  & yup Jazzys dad understand the background thingy  BUT, they really drew my eye, particularly the westy & wire hair shots

It is funny, photography lends itself to so much "personalisation" (phhhhhewwwww.... big word & not necessarily actually a word!) I either like a style or not - pretty much as simple as that.

Have to say, the piccy's I reckon are pretty cool, having said that, they would be cool against my more high coloured whippets, however, hte plainer fawn/brindles would have seen me request a different background :p

I guess, all in all, if you have an eye for what you want, you express it & 9 times out of 10 the photographer will accommodate, if they don't - kick em to the curb..... on the other side, there are some pretty average "style king/queens" out there, so the general piccy will be a success. :sweating:

All in all.... a great start... good :luck: to you

IMPORTANT NEWS
I had a request from Erika Tonder, editor of the Sighthound Magazine, to supply pictures of the first prize winners from Whippet Club of Wales to be included in a future issue.

That's excellent Louise!

Louise

Well done Louise , Im supplying the pics from our Midland whippet show ;)

Yay, Jax!

Lana ( Aslan ) is also a photographer by trade so all her comments are from one experianced snapper to another  No competition though with her being just a little too far away  :(

Actually Jax, that should read "from one experienced snapper to Louise" - I don't consider myself experienced as yet :- "

Umm, :b sorry Jax but I must correct you, can't have people thinking I'm more skilled than I really am! I would not call myself a "photographer by trade". I am a teacher "by trade", that's what I studied to be, (high school subjects English and German). Along the line I expressed interest in teaching film and television and got handed a video camera and thrown into an edit suite and was told to "play and you will learn". Therefore became a film and television teacher with no real formal training. Photography used to be a short intro unit to Film and Television - so got given a manual SLR camera to take home and play with, then chucked in a dark room as well in order to help kids develop their own pics. No formal training there either.

What I do now as a "job on the side" (since I gave up teaching) is film and edit wedding videos.

So, in reality Louise, you are probably a much more experienced photographer than I am. I have an eye for framing and composition but I have never really fully understood the mechanics of a manual SLR and how to achieve certain effects - but would really love to ...

I have pretty much a "run of the mill" digital still camera and a very basic photo editing program.

My video stuff however is a little more sophisticated.

Louise is there a cushion under the terriers' feet in the stacked pics?
The foxie and the border seem to be leaning back instead of up and over their fronts - perhaps underfoot is too soft?  Have you tried a thin, dense foamrubber underneath the backdrop rather than something thick and spongy?  Just a thought.

As I have not yet got a table for the little 'uns to stand on (on my shopping list for Midland Cos tomorrow), they were actually standing on a cage which had a piece of wood on the top. That proved to be a bit slippy, so the only thing I had was a bit of vetbed to put on it- henc e the "spongy" look! I think the Wire and the Border were suffering from "stiff" terrier syndrome, but both owners have ordered prints, so they can't look too bad :))

Louise

Never wanted to imply that they were bad - LOL ! They are great pics - was just looking for ways to make them even better?
