Hi! My Teddy is now 14 months, and over the last few months seems to have developed Pica. If we are walking in The forest or fields it’s not too bad, but if we pavement walk he will go for items left on the floor such as tissue or baby wipes. I’m wondering if it’s a stressy thing as he seems less likely to do it when not pavement walking. He’s so quick and will grab things in his mouth before I can stop him , he will then chew it furiously and ingest if he gets a chance. Has anyone else experienced Pica? I’m thinking a vet visit to eliminate deficiency of some kind.

What is his 'leave' training like? Are you able to keep an eagle eye out for things he might see so you can shorten his lead such that he can't get to them? If you can get him to a point where you can say 'leave' the moment he spots something that he can't get to anyway, that could give him a new and rewarding 'interest' on pavement walks.

I don't know about the pica aspect, though there's never any harm in running it past your vet.
